2027 Honda Africa Twin Range Unveiled At EICMA 2026
More tech, a bigger engine and a lot more
The Honda Africa Twin is quite an iconic bike in the world of big adventure bikes and it has now received a comprehensive overhaul for 2027. Apart from the standard variant, the BMW R 1300 GS rival is now available in 2 more variants: Africa Twin Enduro Sports and Africa Twin Adventure Sports. As the name suggests, one is a more off-road focused bike while the other’s more road-biased.
For starters, the bikes get a new engine. It’s now a 1131cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that makes 117PS and 119Nm. Then there’s the electronic Showa suspension. What it essentially does is adjust the suspension in real time, according to the riding style and sensing the environment it’s being ridden in. This essentially gives riders a more precise feeling of what’s happening under them especially when riding off the road.
As mentioned above, the Enduro Sports gets a 21-inch front wheel, being the most off-road focused of the 3. Being more road-focused, the Adventure Sports gets a 19-inch wheel at the front. The 18-inch wheel at the rear is constant across all 3 trims and they’re all tubeless tyres. The Enduro Sports shows its off-road seriousness with the 890mm seat height (that can be brought to 870mm). 240mm of suspension travel at the front and 230mm at the rear is more than enough, and so is the massive 260mm ground clearance number.
Other updates include a lighter frame, a revised seating triangle and keyless ignition and fuel cap (on the 2 non-standard variants). The 18.8-litre fuel tank is unchanged on the standard variant, but the Adventure Sports trim now gets a 24.2-litre fuel tank.
All the variants get a fancy looking 7-inch TFT console, riding modes and a lot of technology, all that you’d expect from big flagship adventure bikes. The best part is that they also have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, both. Another technological update is the Honda Sensing Ride, essentially a DCT gearbox along with a radar system. It’ll then take care of features like blind-spot detection, adaptive cruise control and collision warnings.
Whether these will come to India hasn’t been officially confirmed by Honda. But given how popular the bike is in our country, Honda should ideally bring at least some units by early next year.
