The only update in the new model is...

Suzuki has been steadily updating its Burgman series of maxi-scooters in international markets. After launching the overhauled Burgman 400 in March, the Japanese brand has introduced the MY21 Burgman 200 in the US market. So, does it get fancy electronics or an updated engine like its 400cc sibling?

Unfortunately, no. The only update for the 2021 Suzuki Burgman 200 comes in the form of a new Metallic Matte Stellar Blue paint scheme. Apart from the new colour, the maxi-scooter has remained the same as the 2019 model.

The 2021 Suzuki Burgman 200 is powered by a single cylinder, liquid-cooled 200cc SOHC engine. Though Suzuki hasn’t revealed the performance figures for the new model, the older model produced 18PS. While the performance may not be as expected from a maxi-scooter, the Burgman makes up for it with its  big 10.5-litre fuel tank and a massive 41-litre underseat storage that can gobble up two full-face helmets.

Suzuki has kitted the Burgman 200 with decent hardware too. The maxi-scooter gets a 240mm disc with 2-piston caliper up front and a 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear. For a plush ride, the Burgman 200 sports a telescopic fork and a single monoshock. The 110/90-13 and 130/70-12 beefy tyres further ensure a smoother ride.

The 2021 Suzuki Burgman 200 is priced at $4,999 or Rs 2.92 lakh. It's unlikely to make its debut in India, for Suzuki will have a tough time marketing a scooter like this in our price-conscious market and we’ll continue to have Burgman Street. And if you are looking for a more powerful option, there’s only the Aprilia SXR 160 for now. And for those looking for a greener option, the Suzuki Burgman Electric is due for a debut soon.
