Hero Splendor iSmart BS3

Hero  Splendor iSmart is the latest addition in the Splendor line-up by India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer. The bike has recently acquired the record for the most fuel efficient motorcycle in the world by clocking a breakthrough mileage of 102.50kmpl. The company has equipped the bike with one of its kind i3s (idling stop and start) technology that automatically shuts off the engine in idling conditions and restarts it when the clutch lever is pressed.

Hero  Splendor iSmart is powered by a 97.2cc, four-stroke, air-cooled, OHC engine mated to a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. The power mill produces a peak power of 7.7hp at 7500rpm with a maximum torque of 8.04Nm at 4500rpm. The engine is incorporated with the unique iSmart technology, which automatically turns off the engine in case of idling and restarts when the clutch is disengaged.

The bike is bolted on a tubular double cradle frame and moves on an 80/100-47P front and 80/100-54P rear tubeless tyres with stylish black alloy wheels. The suspension system includes telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and swing arm with adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear. Splendor iSmart is equipped with 130mm drum brakes at the front and 110mm drum brakes at the rear, both internal expanding shoe type.

The instrument console of the bike is attractive and informative, which now sports a side stand indicator as well. The bike also features a body-coloured split grab rail adding some style to Splendor’s DNA. To start/stop the iSmart technology, an On/Off switch is placed at the right handlebar named as i3s technology. Splendor now gets a sporty front cowl in place of traditional old-fashioned headlamp section. Hero boasts its advanced technology by adding new techno smart graphics on the body. The fuel tank capacity of the bike is 8.7 liter. Coming to the rear, this section gets a stylish tail lamp with clear lens indicators. Hero Splendor iSmart now also features a maintenance free battery.

Hero Splendor iSmart comes with a decent body design. Its front profile has a sharp headlamp with clear lens turning blinkers. The bike comes in a dual tone colour scheme that looks attractive. Coming to the rear end, the bike sports a split grab rail making it look more pleasant. The tail lamp section resembles with that of its elder sibling, Splendor NXG. Handle weights are added to the handlebar that reduces vibrations at high speeds and also looks stunning. The bike has an all-black engine and alloy wheels that further enhance its character. Hero Splendor iSmart has a larger seat that offers comfort to the rider and pillion. The bike is crafted on a tubular double cradle frame and measures 1,965mm x 770mm x 1,095mm (LxWxH). Along with a wheelbase of 1,235mm, it sports a minimum ground clearance of 160mm and the seat height of 785mm. The bike sports a fuel tank of 8.7-liter capacity.

Hero iSmart gets 130mm front and 110mm rear drum brakes that promise smooth and effortless braking. Furthermore, the bike comes with a bright multi-focus reflection (MFR) headlamp with halogen type bulb that ensures better illumination of the road at nights for safety. The bike gets tubeless tyres at both ends that are quite convenient and demands less maintenance.

The four-speed engine uses a chain drive to transmit the power to rear wheels, which comes to life by an easy electric starter and kick. The bike uses Digital CDI system as its ignition setup. The manufacturer has introduced an advanced iSmart technology in the bike that auto stops the engine in case of idling conditions. The mill gets started again when the rider presses the clutch lever. This proves quite beneficial as the automatic starting and stopping of engine saves fuel and reduces the overall emissions of the bike. The company claims it to be more fuel efficient than the usual 100cc commuters. Hero is the only motorcycle manufacturer in the country to offer such feature. An i3s technology switch is provided at the handlebar that enables the rider to switch it on and off according to his requirements.

Hero Splendor iSmart is crafted on a tubular double cradle frame. It comes with 130mm drum brake at the front and 110mm drum brake at the rear for easy and effective braking. The suspension system of the bike includes telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and swing arm with an adjustable hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. Hero has equipped the bike with grippy 2.75x18”-4PR tyre at the front and 2.75x18”-6PR tyre at the rear. The bike comes in two-wheel type options that speak wheels and alloy wheels. The tubeless tyres fitted in the bike proves convenient in case of a puncture as they do not deflate suddenly.
