When we talk about superbikes, the first thing comes to our mind is power and the latest talk of the industry are superbikes launched in 2015, which makes a maximum power of around 200PS. These motorcycles can go faster than your expectations and their design is beyond your imagination. So, let’s check out which are these machines and how they do that.

5) 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1: Since its inception in 1998, we have seen many updates on the Yamaha YZF-R1. However, one we got in 2015, was a complete new R1, which is aesthetically as well as mechanically different from any of its previous generation model. The company claims that it has been developed using the experiences and uncompromised technology of its MotoGP Machine- YZR-M1. And the same you can feel in the styling of the new Yamaha R1 and its higher factory spec version- R1M.

Powering both the versions of the Motorcycle is a 998cc, inline four-cylinder engine, based on the crossplane technology. The motor makes power up to 197.3bhp at 13,500rpm and delivers torque up to 112.4Nm at 11,500rpm. The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M are available in the Indian market at Rs. 22.34 lacs and Rs. 29.43 lacs (ex-Showroom Delhi) respectively.

4) 2015 BMW S1000RR: In 2009, BMW Motorrad came up with a unique machine- BMW S1000RR, which grabbed much attention due to its unsymmetric headlight design. The reason behind its asymmetric design is not just to make it unique, but to make it one of the lightest litre-class superbike. And the latest version of the bike also follows the same concept with a little tweaked bodywork.

Propelling the 2015 BMW S1000RR is a 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline four-cylinder, DOHC engine with 4 titanium valves per head. The highly advanced motor gives it power up to 198bhp at 13,500rpm and a peak torque of 113Nm at 10,500rpm, while the bike weighs just 204 kg in fully fueled condition. The bike is also available in the Indian market with a price tag of around Rs. 27.5 lacs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

3) 2015 Aprilia RSV4 RR: One of the most beautifully designed superbikes - Aprilia RSV4 is another motorcycle, which received a major performance update in 2015. The new model is called Aprilia RSV4 RR, which also comes in a special edition race dedicated livery as RSV4 RF.

The bike sports a 999.6cc, liquid-cooled, 65° V-4 engine, which is capable of making 201bhp of power at 13,000rpm. The motor delivers torque up to 115Nm at 10,500rpm and it comes mated to a 6-speed transmission, featuring quick shift technology.

2) Ducati 1299 Panigale: Ducati Panigale is a perfect blend of beauty and performance, and its latest model 1299 gets even bigger and better motor. If we talk about the styling of the motorcycle, it is like a Ferrari on two wheels with signature Rosso Corse (Red) colour option.

The 2015 Ducati Panigale is available in 3 trims as 1299 Panigale, 1299 Panigale S and Panigale R, which are expected to be priced from Rs. 32 lacs to Rs. 47 lacs in India. All of these variants are powered by a 1285cc, liquid-cooled, Superquadro L-Twin engine, which produces power up to 205bhp at just 10,500rpm. Peak torque of the motor is 144.6Nm at just 8,750rpm, which is the highest number in this list.

1) Kawasaki Ninja H2: Kawasaki, one of the most popular names in performance motorcycles, always like to be ahead in the race of power. Till 2014, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R was the most powerful production motorcycle on the planet, with a big 1,441cc inline-four mill. Now, some other players were heading to beat it with their new products, having lesser displacement. It lead Kawasaki to think that bigger displacement is not a solution and they have to do something different from the others.

By the last quarter of 2014, Kawasaki came up with a new leader- Ninja H2R, which is built beyond belief. It was a track riding motorcycle, so the company also introduced a road legal model of the bike, which was christened as Ninja H2. The company used a smaller 999cc, inline four cylinder engine in the bike, however, it is the only turbocharged motorcycle engine in production. This turbocharger is designed by the company’s gas turbine division and it made the engine capable to make power up to 210bhp, coming at around 11,000rpm with ram-air effect. Further, design of the motorcycle has been developed by the Kawasaki Aerospace Company, so it can go really fast without losing stability. The Ninja H2 has already been launched in India at Rs. 29 lacs (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).

All these 2015 superbikes come with the latest electronic packages and advanced chassis equipment as well.
