About BGauss A2

The BGauss A2 electric scooter has been launched after its unveiling in early July. BGauss is the daughter company of RR Global, a Mumbai-based conglomerate with a long-standing presence in the electrical industry. The BGauss A2 will be available in two variants: lead-acid and lithium-ion. You can read more about them in our launch story here.

BGauss A2 Price:

The price of the BGauss A2 starts from Rs 52,499 for the entry-level A2 lead-acid battery variant. The top-end lithium-ion battery version retails at Rs 67,999, both ex-showroom. Deliveries will commence from August 2020 in Pune, Navi Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru.

BGauss A2 Features:

The BGauss A2 comes with a fully digital touchscreen instrument cluster. The scooter gets practical features like anti-theft alarm, anti-theft motor locking, centralised seat lock, USB charging, reverse assist and side-stand sensor. There are even three riding modes: low, mid and high. However, we aren’t sure how they will help considering the scooter’s top speed is just 25kmph. The battery pack in the lithium-ion variant is removable whereas the lead-acid battery isn’t. As expected, the lighting system is all-LED.

BGauss A2 Motor:

The BGauss A2 employs a 250W BrushLess DC hub motor which helps the scooter reach a claimed top speed of 25kmph. The motor is connected to either a 60V lead-acid battery or a 57.6V lithium-ion battery pack. The lead-acid variant takes about 5-6 hours to reach 80 per cent juice and 7-8 hours to top up completely. Since the lithium-ion battery pack is inherently more advanced, it takes just 1 hour 45 minutes to reach 80 per cent. A 100 per cent charge is achieved in about 2 hours 15 minutes.

BGauss A2 Suspension & Brakes:

The BGauss A2 and its variants use a telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. The two variants also get disc brakes on both ends, with regenerative braking as standard. Since the top speed is limited to just 25kmph, there is no CBS. The alloy wheels are wrapped with tubeless tyres on both ends.

BGauss A2 Rivals:

The BGauss A2 competes against the Hero Electric Optima LA and Optima Li, Ampere V48 and Okinawa Ridge 30.
