The Benelli Imperiale 400 is a full-fledged package and feels like it punches well above its segment. It’s what you’d get if you took the Royal Enfield classic 350, ironed out all the imperfections and plonked a capable motor in there. The motor has minimal to no vibes, enough grunt throughout the rev range and feels stress-free even if you sit at 100kmph all day. Add a comfortable riding posture to the equation and you have a fantastic bike at hand. There are a couple of niggles, but that’s the case with almost every bike. What could work against this perfect little classic bike, though, is the after-sales service cost. While we don’t have actual receipts at hand, we do know that servicing a Benelli costs more than its competition (at least in theory). On the other hand, Dominar 250 is more affordable and value for money too. It even undercuts the Gixxer 250 BS6 by a few thousand rupees. In terms of pricing, Bajaj has nailed it. But money aside, as a motorcycle, the Dominar 250 does one thing right -- it is fit to purpose. The Dominar 400, for example, always felt like a confused motorcycle as the 390’s motor is too manic to make for a great sports tourer. It gets the job done, but just about. On the other hand, the Dominar 250’s motor felt boring on the KTM, but combined with the comfortable tourer the Dominar is, it works beautifully. It truly feels like it deserves the ‘sports tourer’ tag. So while Bajaj might pitch it as the entry-level Dominar, we think the 250 is the Dominar in its perfect form. - Q. I am planning to buy a criuser bike. Please help me choose from royal enfield 350 classic or jawa peraq orbeneli 400?A.
The three motorcycles here, each an achievement in its own way for providing you as analogue an experience as the modern era will allow them to, couldn’t be more dissimilar. The cheapest of the lot, the Classic 350 is still a wonderful motorcycle, even if greatly imperfect. It has achieved a lot in its decade-long lifetime, including kick-starting the retro motorcycle revolution, perhaps globally. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 BS6 has the potential to live up to its predecessor now that it complies with the stringent BS6 emission norms. We just wish it featured a more refined motor with extra punch to take on the highways. The Perak will be an interesting and more powerful alternative to its Jawa cousins, Royal Enfield Classic 350. The fact that it comes with a single seat might limit its appeal though. Also, it attract a long waiting period too. The Imperiale is no more perfect than the other motorcycles here, but its character elevates the riding experience beyond the sum of its components and their respective functions. Here is a motorcycle that positions riding pleasure as something omnipresent, rather than something set at a certain point in its powerband or torque curve, and that’s what makes it so impressive. Benelli India has done well to localise it and keep its price competitive, but it would be wiser to address at least the more function-based issues (front brake, rear suspension) if it desires to strengthen its reputation as a manufacturer with a serious India-focus. You may compare all these bikes acoordingly. Do take a test ride in order to get better clarity. Check out authorised dealership details.
Benelli Imperiale 400 misses the fees pump in the fuel tank.
As of now, the brand has not revealed the complete details of the bike so we would suggest you to wait till it gets launch.
