    Overview

Piaggio Vespa can be truly said the second name for retro styled scooters available across the globe. The company has re-entered into the Indian market few years back after it discontinued from India long ago due to two-stroke engine issues. Presently, the manufacturer offers its refreshing range of automatic scooters in the country that scores high on both, visuals as well as mechanicals to feast its buyers. However, due to a higher price of its products, the company is still struggling to see an eye-soothing sales report from the Indian buyers.

The retro scooter gets its life from a 125cc, three-valve, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that comes mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The mill churns out a net power of 9.76bhp at 7,500rpm along with a maximum torque of 10.6Nm at 6,000rpm. It has been assisted with MAP sensing and variable spark timing management system that ensures a crisp and undelayed throttle response. With this hardware in stock, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 60kmph in 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 100kmph. Piaggio Vespa runs on 90/100-10 53J tyres and comes equipped with 200mm ventilated disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear. The suspension tasks are handled by Aircraft derived single side arm with anti-dive characteristics upfront and Dual-effect hydraulic shock absorbers at the rear.

The scooter has been given a stylish and retro look that has been made possible due to ultimate craftsmanship. The front profile gets a stylish rounded headlamp with a neatly finished front apron. A considerable amount of chrome has been used in various parts like rear view mirrors, grab rail and some portions of side panels. The machine gets a well-padded split seating that looks magnificent and offers an optimum comfort to the rider and pillion. The rear end of the scooter sports a robust tail lamp with stunning clear lens blinkers. The body dimensions of the scooter are 1,770mm x 690mm x 1,140mm (LxWxH) that gives it a good on-road presence. A wheelbase of 1,290mm with a minimum ground clearance of 155mm promises commendable handling and stability. Piaggio Vespa has a 7 liter fuel tank that gives a good range without refuelling.

Waiting for offers to buy the scooter
I saw the scooter and liked it very much. When I enquired about it, I was shocked to know that the scooter is this much expensive. I felt this shock two times in two days. First, I got to know that the top end variant of Maruti S Cross is costing Rs. 16 lac, after that, heard about overpriced Vespa. I hope there will be some cost cutting later on, as the scooter is not worth its price. One can think of buying it for Rs. 60,000 to 65,000 but I don’t think anyone would pay over Rs. 70,000 to buy it. It carries great looks and is available in dynamic shades to complete its class. I am eagerly waiting for its price to decrease so that I can buy the scooter as I am liking it very much. I am Shravan Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, please reply me here if you get any information about the decrease in Vespa’s price. I hope this review will be helpful for others. Thank you.

      Killer Looks
I purchased Vespa yesterday after hearing a lot of good things about it. The scooter is so smooth that sometimes you do not feel that its ignition is on when standing on a traffic signal. It is also well balanced and offers smooth running. Over these benefits, it is putting out a great mileage of 50 to 55 kmpl, I hope that the mileage will increase after its first service. The all new scooter reached to the speed of 90 kmph in a stretch of just 500 meters, that shows its power output. The stopping power is great and the tyres provide a good grip on the road. Its on-road price is around Rs. 77,000. If you are a scooter design fan, you should spend your earnings on it, otherwise, it is a costly scooter that will offer classic looks but perform like some others. Vespa is good for those who find these kinds of scooters attractive, it is only meant for them.

      Attractive retro style
Vespa is the non-geared two-wheeler from Piaggio. It is the only scooter in the country with retro looks and is being liked by most of the people. I bought my Vespa Elegante last month. I thought it would be powerful but it is not. It generates a maximum power output of around 10 bhp. But Vespa is stable, well-balanced and offers smooth running even on speeds over 70 kmph. It is a bit costly and goes to Rs.90,000 with its top end variant. It has both the electric and the kick start option for rider’s convenience. The old school looks of Vespa and its smooth running attracted me to buy the scooter. 7 litres of fuel tank capacity and boot space is enough to store a helmet and other small stuff. The headlight provides a good view of the road and high seating keeps you safe as you can see the potholes from a distance and can avoid them. Vespa is not worth its cost but is a good scooter overall.

      Not as per expectations.
Vespa is trying to push obsolete model in India. Now a days front telescopic suspension is becoming standard in scooters. Wheel size should be 12". Vespa might not make floor board flat but above two feature must be considered. It is understood that some upcoming scooters are having 14"wheel. Scooter are prefered by married family persons and they expect certain indian specific requirement. Japanese and Koreans are smarter than Amrican and European in understanding this.

Vespa Should follow the design of activa and suzuki access
Vespa Should follow the design of activa and suzuki access, becos now people want stylish look with performance , not scooter like look as it seems vespa changed the front , but light position looks like a old scooter, which is out dated from market, vespa people should take care about this, now a days looks mostly matters, people waits 5 month for active instead of taking suzuki access, vespa should take the advantage, vespa engine smothness is great, but should need to look in the design area, best wishes for vespa, and hope some bike should introduce like passion plus and shine only
