Considering the price tag it sports, it seems to be a prized possession. With such a price tag it certainly stands out of the competition as buyers won’t compare it to any other scooter before buying it, rather they’d simply buy it. The design philosophy of the scooter is entirely different and it is one-of-its-kind in the Indian market. The build quality of the scooter is supreme and the comfort levels are unmatchable. It gets a refined and trusted power mill under the skin and a high strength steel structure that provides it rigidity and solidity. The chrome accents act as visual appeal enhancer. The wider tubeless tyres give buyers a reason to trust and enjoy the ride. Overall, it offers everything starting from comfy seat to upright riding position, style-enhancement elements to convenience-packed features. However, all at a very expensive price. No wonder why sales numbers are not on a higher side for Vespa in the country.

Vespa is known for its retro-styled scooters that are precise, proportionate and amazingly built. Vespa LX125 is no exception. It features a retro-styled handlebar, wide rear view mirrors that get a chrome treatment, a round vintage-styled headlamp, neatly laid front turn blinkers over the apron, a step-up floor board, comfy single seat piece, stylish satin-finish 10-inch wheels, rear grab rail and a clunky tail section with light and turn indicators. The apron is garnished by a chrome border which is one of the highlights of the design. The front turn blinkers and the headlamp get a chrome boundary that looks very upmarket. The air intake grills over the apron also get chrome finish. The ornament on the front fender is another notable component of the scooter that looks pleasing. On the convenience front, it gets generous under seat storage compartment, built-in lockable glove box and retractable hook for carrying your stuff. The instrument console gets an analogue display for the speedometer, odometer and the fuel gauge. The handlebar is positioned exactly at a place where it should be offering an upright riding position to the rider. The seat is quite comfortable for both, the rider as well as the pillion. It comes with a 7-litre fuel tank that is good enough for your daily commutes like short rides to the office, shopping malls and more and back home.

Dimensionally, it measures 1770mm long, 690mm wide and 1140mm high. The ground clearance sits at 155mm and the wheelbase at 1290mm.

The steel frame is highly durable and full of strength. The tubeless tyres are wide enough to offer stability and grippy enough to offer control to the rider. The drum brakes have the much-needed bite and stopping power to avoid collisions and mishaps.

The Vespa LX 125 houses the 125cc air-cooled, single-cylinder 4-stroke engine with a max power and peak torque of 10.5bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.6Nm at 6,000rpm respectively. It comes with a fuel economy of 62Kmpl (claimed) and a top speed of 90Kmph. The engine gets a CVT transmission, which is smooth as silk. The engine is extremely refined and vibrations or noise don’t bother even on high speed. The torque offering is adequate for the ride to go around in the city and it only gets better with every Km.

Built on the Monocoque high rigidity steel structure, the Vespa LX 125 gets conventional hydraulic front and rear suspensions. The setup offers immense support while negotiating the rough patches. The handle gets ideal placement. The steering response is excellent to let the rider manoeuvre it in the city. The sharp corners and steep curves are tackled with ease while the potholes are bypassed effortlessly by the scooter’s suspension. On the braking front, it gets 150mm drum brake at the front and a 140mm drum at the back. The wheels get 90/100-10 section tubeless tyres that offer grip and control regardless of the terrain quality.
