TVS Apache RTR 310 - A True Hooligan For The Streets
The TVS Apache RTR 310 is the naked version of the Apache RR 310 and the brand’s flagship street fighter. The bike has a lot of changes to its engine and features and stands out quite a bit compared to the Apache RR 310. The RTR 310 is also TVS’ first attempt at creating a bike that can take on the roads like the Apache RR 310 handles the race track.

Design
-
The Apache RTR 310 has a typical streetfighter design, with the large split head lamp setup, large tank and other design elements

-
The design seems to have taken some inspiration from the higher capacity Ducati Streetfighter series for the bodywork.
-
The bike feels very different from the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 series as a whole.

-
The tank extensions look quite aggressive and the metallic badging on the sides make the bike feel quite premium.

-
The split trellis frame, with the ‘HYPERSPEC’ stickers look quite nice.
-
The raised tail section with the split seat setup feels quite sporty and the ‘Apache Racing’ stickers add a nice touch to it.

-
The indicator setup at the back, which has been placed on the mudguard, gives the bike an aggressive look.
-
The bike overall has a really good look and feel, and everything feels premium
Features
-
The temperature-controlled seat is a first on any motorcycle. It is a quirky addition that reduces discomfort.

-
The cooling function on the seat is very evident when riding at slower speeds, but doesn’t make much difference when speeds pick up.
-
The TFT console has a nice layout, and offers good readability and has a clear fuel level indicator and side-stand indicator.

-
Console controls are on the left hand side switch cube, which is easy to use.
-
The console layout changes depending on the riding mode selected and this is a neat feature which differentiates between the 5 riding modes well , including rain, urban, and sport.

-
The console has a fuel indicator, gear position indicator and all other essential readouts
-
The automatic headlamp brightness adjustment, increases the LED illumination brightness as you increase the speed.
-
The bike also gets a lot of safety features including a traction control system, wheelie control and cornering cruise control.

-
With the Built-To-Order kit, riders can get a tyre pressure monitoring system which is quite convenient.
-
The bike also features a side stand cut off as standard, and the feature front is sorted.
-
The features offered on the bike are some of its best aspects.
Riding Posture & Comfort
-
The 800mm seat height makes it easier for shorter riders to get both their feet down on this motorcycle. So overall, rider access is not an issue.

-
The seat space is quite adequate and the seat is comfortable; add in the temperature control setting and it is even more comfortable.

-
The wide handlebar offers a slightly committed riding stance which is nice for sportier riding.
-
The overall upright riding position and relaxed riding ergonomics makes the bike a lot easier to ride compared to the committed and sporty Apache RR 310.

-
The bike can be ridden sitting up straight or fully tucked in; riders can go for the former for relaxed city rides and the latter for sportier riding.
-
The pillion seat is fairly large and quite comfortable as well, and footpeg placement also allows pillions to rest their legs properly.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
- The TVS has taken a lot of steps in making the Apache RTR 310’s engine different, including a larger airbox for more air intake, a higher compression ratio among others. The result is quite evident. The engine vibes are now much lesser than earlier.

Transmission |
|
312cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor |
35.6 PS at 9,700rpm |
28.7 Nm at 6,650rpm |
6-speed |
-
The performance numbers are decent, but compared to the new Apache RR 310 it is a bit low.

-
When starting the engine, the rider is greeted with a deep and throaty exhaust sound.

-
The bike has slightly better low-end punch thanks to the large 46-tooth rear sprocket and changed gear ratios, but top-end performance has taken a hit.
-
The bike is offered with 5-riding modes that modulate the power and performance, they are: Urban, Rain, Sport, Track and Supermoto.

-
The torquey nature of the bike makes it difficult to ride at slower speeds, as the front wheel just wants to lift up. It becomes a lot easier to control once the revs climb.
-
The wheelie control feature makes the bike easy to manage, or else it would’ve been a lot more difficult to ride at lower gears.

-
The RTR 310 feels most smooth in the mid-range when riding in the 4th and 5th gear, and the tractable nature makes it possible to ride at lower speeds of 40 to 50kmph.
-
The throttle response is a bit jerky and this is a bit annoying, the problem is present even in the Urban and Rain modes.
-
The constant jerk and pull that is experienced when opening and closing the throttle is a bit bothersome, and the bike could have been smoother with lesser jolts.\

-
The engine is not the most refined. There’s a constant buzz on the footpegs that can become annoying at times for the rider, and requires some tolerance from the rider to handle.
-
The thick cushioning on the seat also helps in stopping the vibrations being felt too much on the rider’s tailbone.

-
One of the best things about the bike is the quick shifter, and it is the smoothest one we’ve seen on an Indian bike, after riding a number of them.
-
The motor offers top notch performance at the lower-end of the rev range, and the bike can be a proper hooligan to ride.
Handling & Ride Quality
-
The upright seating position, combined with the wide handlebar, has made the bike a lot easier for the rider to turn the bike compared to the Apache RR 310.

-
The bike is quite nice while riding in the city, and cuts through traffic quite easily thanks to its nimble nature.
-
The Michelin Road 5 tyres offer excellent grip and inspire confidence while leaning.

-
The footpegs are placed forwards compared to the RR 310, and you can easily scrape them leaning too much, which is quite easy on this bike.
-
The matte finish on the tank also makes it easy to grip with your knees without any strain on the legs, so there’s no need to put additional tank grips.

-
The suspension offers a much more plush ride quality compared to the RR 310 and this makes the bike a lot easier to ride over bad and broken patches of road in the city.
-
With the Built-To-Order kit, you can get adjustable front fork and rear monoshock, which adds a lot more versatility to the bike’s ride quality.

-
The front brake offers decent stopping power, but the lever can feel a bit squishy and it is difficult to get a proper feel from the brakes.
-
In terms of performance, the Apache RTR 310 manages to perform city duties quite well, and is a bit better compared to the Apache RR 310
Should You Buy The TVS Apache RTR 310?
-
The TVS Apache RTR 310 is for someone who wants a good city motorcycle and offers lots of fun .

-
It feels very different from other TVS bikes, and if you’re a TVS fan, then it should be on your bucket list.
-
The Apache RTR 310 Arsenal Black without quick shifter starts at a price of Rs 2,49,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is quite decent.

-
With the Built-To-Order kits, the bike costs way over Rs 3 lakh, which is quite a lot even for the total package.
-
That said, there are a few areas where TVS could have made some improvements such as the bike’s NVH (Noise, Vibrations and Harshness) levels.
-
But if performance and value-for-money are more important then you can look elsewhere like the RTR 310’s rivals such as the 2025 KTM 390 Duke.
Pros & Cons
Good Things
- Looks - The aggressive design and attractive colour schemes make it very attention-grabbing. And overall, it looks much larger than other 300cc bikes.
- Comfort - The riding posture is actually surprisingly comfortable. The footpegs are set quite low and the reach to the handlebar is very reasonable
Could Be Better
- Vibrations - There are engine vibrations right from about 4000rpm and riders will feel them even in the city. Out on the highway, the RTR 310 feels buzzy even at 100kmph in 6th gear
- Price - When fully configured with all the fancy features, the RTR 310 becomes more expensive than even the KTM 390 Duke.
- Jerky throttle - Whether in Urban or Sport mode, the throttle feels a bit too jerky and every time you roll on and off the throttle, the bike feels jumpy
