This build shows how a neo-retro roadster can be turned into a scrambler with just a few but crucial updates

Recently we covered a Yamaha XSR155 which was modified into a flat track machine. Now, we have come across a Yamaha FZ-X which has been transformed into a neo-retro scrambler. The modification has been carried out by Hyderabad-based Eimor Customs, that participated in the Customise FZX challenge and also won it by completing the project in 30 days. Let's take a closer look at the modified bike via images.

While the overall design of the bike has been transformed into a scrambler, the fascia has more or less stayed the same. The customiser has retained the circular LED headlight unit of the bike. However, the conventional mirrors have been replaced by sportier looking new bar-end units, the front fender has been shortened and the handlebar grips have also been changed.

Moving to the side you'll notice that the bike has received a new teal blue paint scheme with shatter pattern graphics that lends it an electrifying look. Other notable changes include a new single-piece rider seat, a chopped and curved with an aftermarket LED stripe for the taillight, chopped rear fender and a bronze colour finish on the radiator shroud and the tailpipe.

The features such as the LCD instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity and the side stand engine cutoff seems to be retained on the bike.

The equipment that seems to be retained on the bike includes the 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that makes 12.4PS and 13.3Nm, and the braking hardware. There's no change made to the suspension setup as the motorcycle continues to employ a telescopic fork up front and a monoshock at the rear.

The 17-inch alloy wheels seem to be retained again. However, the modifier has given it a blacked out finish, removing the orange highlights, and has wrapped it in dual-purpose block pattern tyres.

The stock Yamaha FZ-X is currently priced at Rs 1,26,300 (ex-showroom Delhi) and is available in three colours: Matte Copper, Matte Black and Metallic Blue.
