Suzuki has taken the wraps off the Gixxer SF ABS - the most affordable faired bike you can buy with this technology. The ABS version will sit on top of the Gixxer SF food chain and will be available as the top-of-the-line variants of the carburetted and fuel Injected bikes. Dealerships had already started taking bookings for upto Rs 10,000 for the ABS variants.
The ABS variant is expected to be slightly heavier than the regular Gixxer SF thanks to the additional weight of the ABS unit. The bike features a single-channel ABS unit which means only the front wheel is ABS-equipped. ABS provides a better safety net by preventing the wheel from locking up under hard braking which can cause the bike to skid and fall.

Cosmetically, the bike carries the same design and graphics with the addition of an ABS sticker on the front mudguard. The bike will be available in two colour options – Metallic Trition Blue and Glass Sparkle Black/Metallic Matte Black.
The bike gets a 154cc air-cooled motor, power rated at 14.8PS @ 8000rpm and 14Nm of torque @ 6000rpm. The standard bike weighs 140 kg. But expect the weight to increase by 1-2 kg due to the addition of the ABS unit.
The carbureted version retails for Rs 95,499 (Ex-Delhi) and the Fuel Injected variant is priced at Rs 99,312 (Ex-Delhi). Which one should you go for? We expect braking performance to be same for both the Carb and FI ABS-equipped bikes as they both sport the same front and rear disc brake setup. It all boils down to carburettor and fuel injection technology. We reviewed both bikes a while back and found that in terms of performance, the FI was marginally faster than the carb to 60kmph and faster during our 100kmph test. The fuel-injected bike is also more refined than the carb version and a lot more fuel efficient. We think the Rs 4,000 premium is justified and the Gixxer SF FI ABS will be our pick of the two.
