Should you buy the BS4 KTM 790 Duke or wait for the BS6 790 Duke

Now is the right time to buy the KTM 790 Duke but hurry!

The KTM 790 Duke BS4 is on sale in India, but it won’t be for long. With the BS6 deadline closing in, KTM is on the verge of selling the last few pieces of its BS4 stock. We have learnt from reliable sources that the BS6 790 Duke will be launched around September this year. So, it will not be on sale in India for the next eight months. The reason for the delay is BS6 790 Duke will be developed and homologated in India itself. That process will take time.

The upcoming 790 Duke, like other BS6 two-wheelers, will also receive a price hike. It is expected to be in the range of Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. That would bring the new prices up to Rs 8.8 lakh to Rs 8.9 lakh (ex-showroom).

In terms of performance, the BS6 KTM 790 Duke might see a marginal drop in performance. The current 790 Duke’s 799cc parallel-twin motor offers 105PS and 87Nm of torque. The BS4 model comes with a host of electronic aids like rider modes, lean sensing traction control, bi-directional quickshifter and launch control. These would be carried over along with a couple of updates.

Even the suspension setup is expected to be carried over. KTM could throw in some form of adjustability for the front WP upside-down forks and rear WP monoshock. The fantastic J.Juan brakes and cornering ABS are expected to be carried over. 

We believe this is the right time to buy the BS4 790 Duke as you will not only have to spend more for the BS6 version but also wait for an awfully long time. But hurry before the BS4 stocks run out.
