New TVS Electric Scooter Teased: Looks Super Sporty!

TVS Motor Company has dropped a teaser for its latest electric scooter, the M1-S, on social media, and the scooter is all set to be officially unveiled at the 2025 EICMA show on November 4. But while the teaser might make it seem like a new product, this isn’t the first time we’re seeing it. The M1-S is already on sale in a few markets under the Ion Mobility brand, and now it will likely wear the TVS badge for Europe.

A New Scooter?

Interestingly, this isn’t an all-new scooter from TVS. The M1-S electric scooter started life as the Ion Mobility M1-S — a product developed by the Southeast Asian startup in which TVS had invested back in 2023 as part of its Reimagine 2030 strategy. TVS had integrated Ion’s assets and team into its operations before later divesting its stake earlier this year in exchange for Rs 14.97 crore. However, with the M1-S now reappearing on TVS’s channels, it’s likely the company intends to retail it under its own name in Europe.

Not Just A Rebadged X

What’s clear is that this isn’t a reworked TVS X. The M1-S sits on an all-new platform, designed from the ground up. The scooter itself looks futuristic and slightly aggressive, especially at the front with its sharp panels, somewhat reminiscent of bikes from a famous Italian manufacturer *coughs* Ducati *coughs*. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels, gets a telescopic fork and twin preload-adjustable shock absorbers. The maxi-style design is also perfect for the European market as this segment is pretty popular there.

We already know that the M1-S packs a 12.5kW electric motor producing a hefty 254Nm at the wheel, paired to a 4.3kWh battery pack and has a claimed 150km range. Ion Mobility claims a 0-50kmph acceleration in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 105kmph. It even comes with multiple riding modes, including a reverse mode. That said, we will have to see whether TVS just rebadges the scooter or tinkers around with it. 

India Launch Details

For now, it is very unlikely that the M1-S ever makes its way to our shores. The brand already offers the iQube range, and the Orbiter in the commuter electric scooter segment, and the TVS X in the premium, sporty scooter space. The TVS X is still pretty niche, so most of the sales come from the iQube range. It wouldn’t make sense for TVS to bring the M1-S here. Even if TVS thinks there’s scope in the premium e-scooter segment (which could happen in the near future), TVS will rather design and develop an e-scooter specific to our country than sell rebadged EVs here. 

What the M1-S does represent, however, is TVS’s growing intent to build an international reputation in the electric space, one that extends far beyond making simple commuter electric scooters. Alongside this, TVS will also unveil its first electric bike, and also  a 300cc stunt bike based on the RTSx concept, which looks quite cool.
