The upcoming 790 Adventure motorcycle from KTM has been spotted testing. The spy images of the motorcycle show the bike to be in the early stages of development. It is unclear whether KTM will name the bike ‘790 Adventure’ in line with its naming convention or not. However, KTM CEO Stefan Pierer had confirmed in the past about the development of a new 800cc motorcycle.
What lends credence to the testing of the 790 Adventure is the fact that Pierer had confirmed the new 800cc model will power new motorcycles from the Duke family and spawn an adventure motorcycle too. Most of the 790 Adventure has been developed from scratch, be it the chassis, swingarm, exhaust, fuel tank or the 800cc parallel-twin engine.
The chassis and the engine can later be put to use on other KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles too. If launched in India, the 790 Adventure will go up against bikes such as the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin. However, there is no word on whether this bike would come to India or not. Even if it is confirmed later, chances of the 790 Adventure coming to India before 2017 are bleak.
