Japan Mobility Show 2025: Top 5 Yamaha Unveils
Three of these models have made their global debut, while two had already been unveiled earlier
The Japan Mobility Show is the country’s biggest auto event. It showcases innovative automobiles and futuristic mobility concepts from some of the most renowned brands with key focus on hybrid and electric vehicles. This year, Yamaha has unveiled some of its latest creations, highlighting the brand’s vision for future mobility. Here are are our top 5 favourites:
Yamaha Proto BEV
Yamaha has unveiled the Proto BEV concept at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. The Yamaha Proto BEV has a more traditional sportbike design compared to the rest of the radical concepts in this list. Yamaha says it’s built around the idea of “fun unique to a large-battery EV.” Despite the big battery, the brand claims it’s light and compact, making it fun to ride. Its supersport styling hints at a track-focused intent, backed by Yamaha’s racing experience. It also features human-machine interaction to help riders stay focused with visual and sound-based feedback.
Yamaha Tricera Proto
The Yamaha Tricera was also unveiled back in 2023, however the 2025 version looks more production ready with premium seat covers, paint job and more. It is a three-wheeled electric prototype which looks more like a car with its open-top design, steering wheel, and the fact that your passenger will be sitting right next to you. It gets two wheels at the front, a single wheel at the back, both of which steers this three wheeler. According to the brand, this makes it more agile and fun to ride when compared to a traditional car with four wheels. Yamaha has designed the Tricera in a way that it provides a pure driving feel with its front and rear wheel steering.

At first glance it is quite difficult to make out what the Yamaha Motoroid really is, as it does not even have a handle bar, seat or footpegs. Yamaha calls it a ‘mobility device’ which will be more like a companion. The Motoroid:A e-bike will be able to explore how machines can interact more naturally with humans. It is based on the brand’s previous Motoroid:2 concept which was showcased back in 2023. This concept vehicle can balance itself, recognize its rider’s face, and even respond to gestures. The bike can also move on its own and adjust its posture for better stability. It’s more like Yamaha’s way of reimagining a companion which rides with you more like a caretaker? Maybe, but it will also be able to adapt to your riding style and also help in improving it.
Yamaha Proto HEV
The Yamaha Proto HEV is a hybrid concept e-scooter that can run on both, a petrol engine and an electric motor. Yamaha unveiled it back in February 2025 as the XMax SHEV concept. It’s made to give a smooth ride while using less fuel and producing fewer emissions. With this e-scooter, Yamaha is trying out how petrol and electric power can work together efficiently to build a daily commuter for the masses which is cheaper to run.
Yamaha YZF R1 8 Hours Edition
Yamaha YZF-R1 8 Hours Edition is a special version of the legendary R1, built to celebrate Yamaha’s success at the Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race. It keeps the same sharp design as the regular R1 but comes with race-inspired graphics and unique performance upgrades. It is finished in a symbolic red and white colour scheme to celebrate Yamaha’s 70th anniversary. The bike highlights the brand’s racing spirit and its long history at one of the toughest endurance events in the world.
