We were first to report that the Hyosung will launch a faired version of the GD250N following its naked version, which was showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. Now, some other reports are also stating that Hyosung is about to bring The GD250R- faired version along with the GD250N- naked version of the bike.
Launch of the Hyosung Aquila 250 was the main highlight of the company at the Auto Expo, however GD250N also grab the attention like a show stopper. At that time Mr. Shirish Kulkarni, Managing Director, DSK Hyosung, told us in an exclusive interview, that the company will launch the GD250N soon in India, followed by a faired version of the bike. He also said that the company will keep the prices of these bikes under Rs. 2 lakh.
Both the naked and faired versions of the bike will be mechanically identical to each other and will be differ only by the front fairing and handlebars like KTM's entry level Duke and RC machines. The bike will be powered by an all new 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which churns out 28bhp of maximum power along with a peak torque of 24Nm.
Hyosung GD250N and GD250R will sport lots of modern features including a fully digital console, inverted front forks, rear mono-shock, split seat and many more. The naked version is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.5 lakh, while you might have to pay Rs. 30,000 more for the faired one. The company might also produce the bikes locally after completing their facility in India and play aggressive against its rivals in the market by reducing the prices comparatively low.
Hyosung is also working on the development of a 125cc motorcycle, which will also be produced locally in India and offered in the mass appealing segment as a premium commuter motorcycle. Development of this new bike might take some time yet, however, the GD250N is expected to arrive in the Indian market during the third quarter of this year while the GD250R is expected by the end of 2014 or early 2015.
