We recently came across a beautifully modified Harley-Davidson X440 flat tracker made by Bombay Custom Works, a custom house that was founded about 12 years ago. The bike looks absolutely gorgeous and the design changes have turned it from a retro style roadster to a proper flat tracker ready to hit the dirt track. Here’s the story behind the bike.
The Idea
Work on this custom Harley X440 started when the guys at Harley-Davidson approached Bombay Custom Works to build a custom X440 that they wanted to show at India Bike Week (IBW). Three other custom houses were also selected for this, and each chose a different genre.
Bombay Custom Works decided to go for a flat tracker build and the result, as we can all see, is this gorgeous bike.
The Build
At first glance, this custom Harley X440 looks like it has undergone a lot of changes, but in reality the changes are limited to the bike’s design. The first change is at the headlight section, where the stock headlight and indicators have been removed to give it that flat tracker look. The stock tank has been replaced with a new one.
The subframe has been slightly altered and now the bike sports a single piece setup, complete with a custom seat as well. The bike also features a new rerouted exhaust that adds in to the overall rugged looks. The stock tyres have been swapped out for more off-road friendly ones.
Other than these changes, the bike’s underpinnings and engine performance haven’t been alerted. Overall, it looks really good and is definitely one of the best builds we have come across.
