EMotorad has launched the Viper e-bike in India at Rs 66,999. The EMotorad Viper has a rugged design with several modern features, including the segment-first NFC unlock system.  It is now available across more than 500 dealerships in India, along with online platforms, and test rides have also commenced.

The Viper features a bold design with a strong road presence. It runs on 20-inch fat tyres. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends with a motor auto-cut off feature, for safety during sudden stops.

The electric cycle gets a 48V 250W rear hub motor which is powered by  a 48V 15.6Ah removable battery pack. This setup offers a claimed range of 85km with pedal assist. While in throttle mode, it delivers a 70km range on a single charge.

A key highlight of the Viper is its pedal assist system (PAS), which offers five levels of assistance. In the lowest mode, the rider does most of the work with around 80 percent effort, while the motor contributes the remaining 20 percent. As you move up the levels, the motor assistance gradually increases, and in the highest mode, the motor takes over most of the load with 80 percent effort, leaving just 20 percent for the rider.

In terms of features, the electric cycle gets a digital display that shows essential ride information, along with an integrated lighting setup that includes a DRL and a bright headlight. One of the standout additions is the segment-first NFC-based keyless unlocking system, allowing users to unlock the cycle with a simple tap. However, the e-bike misses out on offering turn indicators.

That said, the EMotorad Viper combines practicality, and modern tech, making it an interesting option for those looking to upgrade from a conventional cycle to an electric one.
