These Chinese bikes make the KTM 125 Duke seem rather modest

  • The ZT125-G1 and the ZT125-U are manufactured by Guangdong Tayo Motorcycle Technology Co. Ltd.
  • Zontes is looking to expand in the Asian and European markets.
  • Both the bikes are priced at 3,040 Euros (approximately Rs 2.73 lakh).

The name Zontes is probably unheard by many, but the brand has been around for almost 18 years now. It’s a Chinese brand that manufactures street bikes, scramblers, commuter and small capacity adventure touring bikes. For 2021, Zontes has unveiled its ZT125-U and the ZT125-G1 in the European market. Unlike other Chinese bikes, the Zontes bikes aren’t knock-offs and have rather interesting styling. One good example of this is the Zontes VX310 312cc Tourer.

In terms of design, the ZT125-U has quite a unique and futuristic approach. It features an LED headlight, USD forks and an aluminium swingarm. Whereas, the ZT125-G1 flaunts its scrambler profile with a round LED headlamp, bar-end mirrors, engine guard and dual-purpose tyres.

Both the bikes get a 125cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor that’s mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It produces 14.95PS of power and 13Nm of torque, whereas the KTM 125 Duke makes 14.5PS and 12Nm. Braking department is handled by a 300mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS as standard. Also read: Honda Activa 6G And 125 Prices Increased.

Both bikes are aimed at the learner market in Europe. Zontes has priced the ZT125-U and the ZT125-G1 at 3,040 Euros (approximately Rs 2.73 lakh). We don’t expect any of the models to make it to Indian shores. The 125 Duke, the most expensive 125cc road-legal motorcycle in the country, costs almost Rs 1.2 lakh less than the ZT125 twins.
