Ather Konarc S Variants Explained: Which One Is For You

We help you pick the right Ather Konarc variant based on your needs

Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer Ather has recently launched the Konarc electric scooter at a starting price of Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom, Bangalore). It will be available in 6 variants in total, split between S-Line and Z-Line variants.

However, Ather has not launched the Z-Line variants or the top S-Line 200 km variant yet, so we will only be talking about the Konarc S 100 km, Konarc S 125 km, and Konarc S 161 km, and here’s which one you should buy according to your needs.

Variant

Price (ex-showroom, Bangalore)

Konarc S 100 km

Rs 99,999

Konarc S 125 km

Rs 1,21,999

Konarc S 161 km

Rs 1,44,999

Ather Konarc S 100 km (base variant)

The Ather Konarc S 100 km is the base variant and costs Rs 99,999. It gets the smallest battery of the three at 2.1 kWh, with a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 100 km. The scooter makes a peak power of 4 kW, a peak torque output of 16 Nm and has a claimed top speed of 70 kmph. The scooter can do the 0-40 kmph sprint in a claimed 5 seconds.  It also gets a 450W onboard charger, which can charge the battery from 0-80% in 4 hours.

In terms of features, the Ather scooter has a 4.2-inch LCD console but misses out on smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, call and SMS alerts, and other connected features.

In terms of underpinnings, it gets a Showa telescopic fork, a monoshock suspension, and a 14-inch wheel at the front and a 12-inch wheel at the rear. Unlike the other two variants, this base variant gets drum brakes at both ends.

This variant is best for people looking for an affordable electric scooter for short daily commutes and who do not mind missing out on connected features.

Ather Konarc S 125 km (mid variant)

For Rs 22,000 more than the base variant, you get the Konarc S 125 km variant. It gets a bigger 2.7 kWh battery, with a claimed IDC range of 125 km. The peak power is also increased from 4 kW to 4.7 kW, which results in slightly quicker 0-40 acceleration times of 4.7 seconds; however, the top speed remains the same at 70 kmph. The scooter gets a 450 W charger, which can charge the scooter from 0-80 percent in 4 hours 30 minutes. You can also get an optional 450 W offboard charger for a total charging capacity of 900 W.

It also gets a larger 7-inch LCD console with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, and call and SMS alerts. Other additions include Air Walk, Fall Safe, Find My Scooter, Theft Alert, and remote charging status.

The underpinnings remain mostly the same, but unlike the base version, it gets a 220 mm front disc brake.

This version is for someone who wants a good balance of range, features, and price.

Ather Konarc S 161 km (top variant)

For Rs 23,000 more than the mid variant, you get the Konarc S 161 km variant. It gets the biggest battery of the three at 3.5 kWh and offers a claimed IDC range of 161 km, while the motor performance and top speed remain similar to the S 125 km.

The scooter gets a 450 W onboard charger along with a 450 W offboard charger as standard, giving it a combined charging capacity of 900 W for faster charging. The scooter can be charged from 0-80% in 3 hours 10 minutes using the combined charging setup.

Feature-wise, it gets the same 7-inch LCD console, smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, call and SMS alerts, and other connected features as the S 125 km.

The underpinnings of the scooter are also the same, with a telescopic fork, monoshock, 14-inch front wheel, and a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. The main reason to choose this version is its larger battery and significantly higher claimed range.

This version is best for buyers who have longer daily commutes or simply want the maximum possible range from their Konarc.

Which Variant To Buy?

Best Pick

Our pick is the Konarc S 125 km, as it offers the best balance between price, range, and features. For Rs 22,000 more than the base version, you get a larger battery pack, 25 km more claimed range, a bigger 7-inch LCD console, smartphone connectivity, along with features like Air Walk, Fall Safe, Find My Scooter, and remote charging status, as well as a front disc brake.

Best Value Choice

The S 100 km is the best value option for someone looking for an affordable electric scooter for city use. It misses out on several key connected features, but at its core, it gets the same underpinnings and the same 70 kmph top speed, which should make it as competent as the other variants in the city.
