Kawasaki has launched the 2027 Vulcan S in India, with the cruiser getting a few minor changes over the outgoing 2026 model. While most of the mechanical package remains unchanged, Kawasaki has brought back the torque that was lost with the previous update. The bike also gets a new colour and smaller brake rotors at both ends. The 2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S is priced at Rs 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 10,000 more expensive than before.
What’s New
The biggest update for 2027 is the 649 cc parallel-twin engine. When Kawasaki updated the Vulcan S for 2026, its torque output dropped by 1.4Nm. With the 2027 model, the engine is back to producing 62.4 Nm (made 61Nm in the 2026 model), just like the 2024 version. Power remains unchanged at 61 PS, and there are no other changes to the engine’s power or torque delivery.
The other major change is to the braking hardware. The front disc is now a 272 mm unit, down from the 300 mm disc on the 2026 model, while the rear disc has also been reduced from 250 mm to 216 mm. The Vulcan S is now available in a new Metallic Carbon Gray colour with subtle bluish-green highlights, replacing the Metallic Flat Spark Black shade.
What’s Unchanged
The rest of the motorcycle remains largely unchanged. It continues with the same analogue-digital instrument cluster and dual-channel ABS, which remains the only rider aid on offer.
Suspension setup is also the same, with a 41 mm fork offering 130 mm of travel and a rear linkage monoshock with 80 mm of travel and adjustable preload. The bike continues to have a low 705 mm seat height which makes it quite accessible for shorter riders, but its 130mm ground clearance remains a concern on poor roads.

The 2027 Kawasaki Vulcan S is more of a minor update than a major overhaul. Getting the extra 1.4 Nm back is welcome, but the smaller brake discs are an interesting change. The new colour adds some freshness, while the low seat height continues to make the Vulcan S accessible. At Rs 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom), it is still much more expensive than the only cruiser style bike in the 650 cc category, which is the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, priced at Rs 4.05 lakh (ex-showroom).

You can feel the power when you sit in this bike, my ratings are 4.2 as it was asked about mileage and maintenance which obviously will be higher.
Overall bike is good but maintenance cost is much higher comparatively. But I love the looks of this
