Ather Energy is all set to expand its electric scooter lineup with an all-new family scooter based on its EL-01 platform. The company’s co-founder and CEO Tarun Mehta recently shared a picture of the upcoming scooter on the production line through his social media account, confirming that the new model will be launched on August 29, 2026, during the Ather Community Day.

The Ather EL-01 platform was first showcased at last year’s Ather Community Day, where the company revealed that it had been designed to support multiple types of electric scooter iterations. This includes sporty models, larger maxi-scooters and practical family scooters as well. The production-ready scooter seen in the latest image closely resembles the earlier concept, and looks more like a conventional family scooter. The scooter in the image features smooth body panels, subtle paintwork and a clean overall design. It gets a telescopic fork, a 14-inch front alloy wheel and a smaller 12-inch rear alloy wheel same as the EL-01 concept. The wide floorboard also hints at a practical and comfortable riding experience, making it better suited for daily commuting and family use.

Ather has also confirmed that the EL platform will bring several new technologies. These include an onboard charger for easier charging, Charge Drive Control and the brand’s Advanced Electrical Braking System, which combines regenerative braking with conventional braking to improve efficiency and braking performance.

The EL platform can support battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh, although this scooter is expected to use a mid-sized battery. It could also get a motor derived from the Ather 450X but tuned for smoother everyday performance. Expected features include a TFT display with navigation, smartphone connectivity, voice commands, reverse mode, hill-hold assist, cruise control and AtherStack 7 safety features like crash alerts and pothole alerts.
Expected Price And Rivals
The upcoming Ather EL platform scooter is expected to be priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will take on popular family electric scooters such as the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ampere Nexus and Vida VX2, giving Ather a stronger presence in India’s fast-growing mass-market EV segment.
