Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer, Ola Electric is expected to commence deliveries of the Roadster X Plus (9.1kWh) soon, as the bike has now received the requisite government certifications. As per the official website, the 9.1kWh variant’s estimated delivery timeline in Bengaluru shows as January 20, 2026. On the other hand, the lower 4.5kWh variant’s estimated delivery is scheduled to commence from January 2, 2026. The 9.1kWh variant has received certification from the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989 from the International Centre for Automotive Technology (iCAT), Manesar.

The certification was granted after the motorcycle completed mandatory vehicle-level tests required by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. These included checks for construction and functional safety, electrical systems, range, gradeability (how well it can climb inclined roads), braking performance, noise levels, electromagnetic compatibility, and environmental compliance. Along with this, the 9.1kWh battery pack has also received ARAI certification under AIS-156 Amendment 4, which confirms that the battery is safe for usage as per the latest safety standards. The battery cleared safety and durability tests such as water immersion, thermal events and fire safety, vibration, and mechanical shock, as per current regulations.

Expect the certifications for the 4.5kWh variant to be secured soon. This variant costs Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), and comes with a 225km claimed range, and 125kmph claimed top speed. The Ola Roadster X Plus is the first electric motorcycle in India to be certified with a battery pack developed using in-house 4680 Bharat Cell. This cell measures 46 mm in diameter and 80 mm in height (and hence the name 4680), and uses a cylindrical format, which is claimed to help improve heat dissipation. These cells are being produced at Ola’s Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The introduction of the 4680 Bharat Cell is expected to reduce dependence on foreign supply chain elements and help keep costs more streamlined and stable.

The Roadster X+ claims a range of up to 500km for the 9.1kWh variant, and gets a claimed top speed of 125kmph. The battery capacity is pretty close to the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 Recon, which gets a 10.3kWh battery pack, and a claimed range of 323km. While the claimed range seems a bit too optimistic in our opinion, we’ll be able to give the final verdict only after we do a proper real-world range test of the electric motorcycle. A few weeks back, the brand started delivering its flagship scooter, the Ola S1 Pro Plus with the 4680 Bharat Cell, and now its flagship e-bike is also ready for delivery. Expect Ola Electric to expand the use of its 4680 Bharat Cell technology across other electric two-wheelers soon.
