Hero Ubex E-bike Design Patented In India

The Hero Ubex was first unveiled at EICMA 2025, and its design has now been patented

Quick Highlights:

  • There are some noticeable differences when compared to the concept version

  • Apart from copyright protection, this design patent could also hint at a production version

  • No details of motor or battery yet

Hero MotoCorp’s electric two-wheeler division, Vida, has patented the design of the Vida Ubex electric bike in India. The Vida Ubex was unveiled as a concept at EICMA 2025. However, this particular bike looks a bit different from the concept, with more production-oriented equipment. This suggests that the company may be moving closer to taking the Ubex from concept to a production-ready model. So far, Vida has focused mainly on electric scooters, and the Ubex will mark its entry into the electric motorcycle segment - if and when that happens.

The bike in the patented images misses out on a high mounted front fender, hand guards, and a rear tyre hugger. Despite these changes, it still looks as futuristic as the concept bike. The projector-style headlamp with LED DRLs, give it a clean and aggressive front design. The body panels are shaped to resemble a traditional fuel tank. This should allow the rider to hold on to the bike with their legs. The battery pack seems to be neatly integrated into the frame, which should help with better balance and weight distribution.

One key change compared to the concept version is the use of a conventional telescopic front fork instead of an inverted one. This points towards Hero’s focus on cost control and mass production. The bike in the patent image has disc brakes, and alloy wheels. It also seems to have mid-set footpegs and a tall-ish handlebar, which could result in an upright riding posture. This should allow the Ubex to be a rather comfortable bike for everyday riding.

Hero MotoCorp has not revealed details such as motor output, range, or launch timeline yet. That said, we think the brand might give us a glimpse at its close-to-production form at the Hero World event in March 2026 – fingers crossed for that one. Interestingly, the patent images have surfaced just after Hero patented the design of another electric bike (a sportier one), called the Vida VXZ
