All-New Triumph Bonneville T40 & T4: Features Explained
This retro-roadster is actually quite feature loaded

The newly launched Triumph Bonneville T40 and T4 combine classic styling with a modern feature list. While both motorcycles get features such as LED lighting, riding modes, traction control and smartphone connectivity, the T40 gets a more premium electronics package.
Console, Connectivity And Navigation

The Triumph Bonneville T40 gets a 4-inch TFT instrument console with a round design that suits its retro styling. It displays information such as speed, engine rpm, fuel level and riding mode. It also gets a Heritage Mode, which gives the display a more traditional analogue-style appearance. The T40 gets Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to access functions such as calls and music through the handlebar-mounted controls. It also gets proper Google Maps mirroring which is going to be quite convenient to use. The more affordable Bonneville T4 gets a simpler colour LCD instrument console, but it still supports Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.
Ride Modes

The T40 gets five riding modes, comprising Road, Rain and Eco, along with two customisable modes called Rider A and Rider B. Road mode is designed for everyday riding, while Rain mode provides a softer response and greater electronic intervention in slippery conditions. Eco mode is aimed at smoother and more efficient riding. The Rider A and Rider B modes allow riders to customise the motorcycle’s settings according to their preference. The T4 only gets three riding modes — Road, Rain and Eco. It misses out on the two customisable modes offered on the T40.
Safety Features

The Triumph Bonneville T40 gets optimised cornering ABS and optimised cornering traction control, which take the motorcycle’s lean angle into account when determining electronic intervention. This can provide more appropriate assistance when braking or accelerating while cornering. The T4 gets dual-channel ABS and switchable traction control, but without the lean-sensitive functionality of the T40. The T40 also gets cruise control, allowing riders to maintain a set speed without continuously holding the throttle open. This should make longer highway rides more comfortable. The T4 does not get cruise control. Both motorcycles feature Emergency Deceleration Warning, which flashes the rear light during hard braking to alert vehicles behind.
Lighting And Convenience Features

Both motorcycles get full-LED lighting, including an LED headlight with an integrated Daytime Running Light. The system can automatically switch between the DRL and dipped beam depending on ambient lighting conditions. They also get self-cancelling indicators and a USB-C charging port, adding useful everyday convenience.
T40 Is The More Feature-Packed Bonneville

The T4 gets the essentials, including a colour display, connectivity, navigation, three riding modes, traction control, dual-channel ABS and LED lighting. The T40 goes a step further with its TFT, five riding modes, lean-sensitive ABS and traction control, and cruise control, making it the more technologically advanced Bonneville.
