2026 Suzuki V-Strom 250 Launched Overseas: Here's How It Differs From The Indian Model
The international-spec bike costs almost twice the India-spec V-Strom 250 SX
Suzuki has internationally launched the 2026 Suzuki V-Strom 250. While it shares its V-Strom name with the V-Strom 250 SX sold in India, they are two completely different bikes. Here's a closer look at their differences.
Design
The international-spec V-Strom is a much bigger and heavier motorcycle with a 188kg kerb weight. The bike gets a large 17.5-litre tank, a spacious single seat, a large windscreen for better wind protection, and a round headlamp with a halogen bulb. It gets a rear luggage rack with multiple luggage and pannier mounting points as standard. The international-spec bike also gets a lot of OEM accessories like top boxes, side panniers, a centre stand, and knuckle guards to make the bike more touring-friendly.
The Indian V-Strom 250SX, on the other hand, is a much smaller and lighter motorcycle. It weighs 167kg (kerb), which is 21kg lighter than the international-spec bike. It gets slimmer body panels, all LED lighting, a split seat design, and a smaller windshield. It also has a smaller 12-litre tank.
Engine
The international-spec V-Strom 250 is powered by a 248cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. The engine makes 24PS and 22Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is tuned to provide strong low and mid-range performance, making it suitable for long-distance touring.
The Indian version, on the other hand, has a 249cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine borrowed from the Gixxer 250. The engine makes 26.5PS and 22.3Nm, which is higher than the international-spec bike. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

The international spec bike rides on 17-inch wheels with road-biased tyres, with a telescopic fork and a monoshock at the rear. It gets 160mm of ground clearance and an 800mm seat height, making it accessible for shorter riders.
The Indian bike gets a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel with a telescopic fork and a rear monoshock. The bike gets dual-purpose tyres. The Indian spec bike gets a higher ground clearance of 205mm and a seat height of 835mm.
Features
The international spec bike gets a negative LCD console, which shows all the basic information like the tachometer, speedometer, trip meter, and fuel gauge. There is no smartphone connectivity on offer here, but gets a DC power socket and dual-channel ABS.
The Indian spec bike has a better-equipped instrument console. It has Bluetooth connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation. It gets a USB charging port, and the bike also has dual-channel ABS as standard.

The international spec V-Strom 250 is a more road-biased touring motorcycle,than the Indian spec bike. The Indian bike, on the other hand, can do both, touring as well as light off-road riding.
The international-spec V-Strom looks a bit like the older-gen V-Strom 650. The Indian-spec V-Strom 250 SX has better features, and looks a bit modern with its LED lights. That said, the parallel-twin engine of the V-Strom 250 should be more refined. Though, the international spec bike costs close to an equivalent of Rs 4 lakh – almost twice the 250 SX.
We hope the next update of the V-Strom 250 SX gets a larger fuel tank, longer travel suspension, maybe some design tweaks, and more rider aids like traction control, and a bidirectional quickshifter. All of which could make it an even better touring bike.

This bike is a jack of all trades. Reliable, decent power, great handling, economical to maintain. Amazing looks. Nimble in traffic. Just point and shoot. Amazing liquid cool technology. Never you shall face any overheating issue. I have driven my vstorm 250 for close to 25000 kms. Both city and highway, even taken it to Ran of Kutch also to the mountains and regular trips to Rajasthan. The bike is a mile muncher. Upright sitting posture shall keep motivating u to push for more. Stiff suspension gives u great confidence on corners. However slightly to stiff for potholes. Yes it bike you could consider as it ticked all the right boxes for me. However I would personally suggest to take a test drive of all the bikes in the same segment and have open perspective you will definitely shall be inclined to opt for the vstorm because of its versatility and looks.
