BREAKING: 2026 Kawasaki KLX230 Launched With MASSIVE Price Cut!

If you thought the Rs 1.30 lakh price cut in the KLX 230 is insane, Kawasaki has given us another surprise too!

Quick Highlight:

  • 2026 Kawasaki KLX230 launched at a price of Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi)

  • Gets slightly different body panels, new graphics, and some changes in the underpinnings

  • Kawasaki has also launched the 2026 KLX230R S in India - it’s not road-legal though.

Kawasaki India has launched the 2026 KLX230 at Rs 1.99 lakh. The bike now gets a much lower price tag with slightly different body panels and underpinnings. Kawasaki has managed to reduce the price of the KLX230 by a massive Rs 1.30 lakh (likely by heavy localisation), which takes its previous price of Rs 3.30 lakh, down to a much more affordable Rs 1.99 lakh. Along with this, the brand has also launched the non road-legal KLX230R S in India as well, at a price of Rs 1.94 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).

The latest version of the Kawasaki KLX230 comes with the same paint schemes but with different graphics: Lime Green and Battle Grey White Ebony Black. Other than this,it now gets a new exhaust with different routing, which now appears to be a bit more off-road friendly . It gets the same  233cc air-cooled motor which now produces 19PS and 19Nm (0.9PS and 0.7Nm more) and gets a 6-speed gearbox. The KLX230 uses the same steel tube frame, but new suspension setup from Endurance, rather than Showa. It gets a telescopic fork and rear monoshock which now offer slightly lower wheel travel at  220mm for the front and 223mm for the rear.

The bike runs on a 21-inch front and an 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup, with tubed knobby tyres. It now gets bigger conventional discs (as opposed to petal discs in the older bike) at both ends, measuring 290mm front and a 230mm rear with switchable single channel ABS. Earlier it had a 265mm front and 220mm rear petal disc brake setup with switchable dual channel ABS. Other than this, the KLX is quite light with a kerb weight of 139kg , but the ground clearance is now 10mm lower at 255mm.  Despite these changes, it still remains pretty well capable for its segment. Ever since the KLX230 got launched in India, off-road enthusiasts only complained about its high pricing. Though this dual-sport motorcycle has become a lot more affordable, the Hero Xpulse 200 4V Pro still undercuts it by a massive Rs 34,500. We had also tested the bikes and found that the KLX230 offers slightly premium hardware and better overall performance than the Hero.

The Kawasaki KLX230R S, being a non road-legal motorcycle, is a more off-road capable motorcycle. It uses the same engine, but weighs 10kg less at 129kg (kerb). It is similar to the KLX230 but the ground clearance is 15mm more at 270mm, and the seat height is 20mm more, bringing the saddle to a pretty tall 900mm. Also, it gets an even more hardcore set of knobbies.

BikeDekho Says:

With the revised pricing, the Kawasaki KLX230 is a good value-for-money bike for off-road enthusiasts. It may still be more expensive than the Hero XPulse 200 4V Pro as well as the more powerful Hero Xpulse 210, but it will have the advantage of Japanese engineering and light kerb weight. The bike will be ideal for those who are looking for a well-made dual-purpose bike to learn trail riding (where lightness is crucial), while also being fairly usable enough for the streets.

On the other hand, the KLX230R S is India’s most affordable dual-purpose bike that’s solely meant for off-roading. If you’re a Kawasaki fan, and are looking to choose between the two, we’d recommend getting the regular KLX230 as it is a lot more usable without having to worry about its legality.
