Bajaj has recorded a growth of 2% in the month of January 2016, as it sold a total of 2,52,988 motorcycles against 2,46,955 bikes sold in the corresponding month last year. As far as the total sales of Bajaj Auto are concerned, it recorded a 2% growth by selling a total of 2,93,939 units in this month. Exports volume saw a decrease of 8% last month as compared to January 2015, exporting 1,32,069 units in January 2016 as compared to 1,42,992 units in January 2015.

The new Avenger lineup is leading the pack for Bajaj with an average sales figure of 25,000 units per month and the company also sells the most economical motorcycle of the country, CT100B. Just before the start of 2016 Auto Expo, the company has also unveiled an all new motorcycle carrying a 150cc engine. The V15 is built from the metal extracted from INS Vikrant, India's first aircraft carrier which was sent to the scrapyard for dismantling in 2014. Bajaj is starting its production from February 5 and aims to produce around 20,000 per month, it will be available for sale from next month.

Speaking at the launch of V15, Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto said that the company firmly believes in the adage: 'There is no replacement for displacement'. He recounted the launch of the original Pulsar 180, which was the first bike of its kind with a 180cc engine, at a time when competitors only offered 150cc engines. Bajaj mentioned in as many words that he intends to "crack the impenetrable hold that Hero MotoCorp has over the commuter motorcycles market", and that the V15 is a step in this direction.
