Bajaj Avenger Street 220: Same Price, Other Options

The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 has made a comeback and it is available with an attractive price tag of Rs 1,30,172 (ex-showroom). If you are not that impressed with the cruiser, here are 5 alternatives to consider in the same price range:
1. Ather 450S
Price: Rs 1,35,999 (ex-showroom)
The Ather 450S is the entry-level model in Ather Energy’s 450 electric scooter lineup. The scooter has a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) producing 5.4kW of peak power and 22Nm of torque. The scooter gets a 2.9kWh or 3.7kWh battery pack depending on the variant. It can accelerate from 0-40kmph in 3.9 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 90kmph. It also offers four riding modes: SmartEco, Eco, Ride and Sport.
The 450S is available with IDC-certified range figures of 122km and 161km depending on the battery option selected. Charging times vary according to battery size, with the 2.9kWh variant requiring up to 7 hours and 45 minutes for a full charge, while the 3.7kWh version can be charged from 0-100 percent in around 5 hours and 45 minutes.
In terms of underpinnings, the Ather 450S has a telescopic fork and a monoshock suspension setup. Braking duties are handled by a 200mm disc at the front and a 190mm disc brake at the rear, with Combined Braking System (CBS) available as standard. The scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres.
Feature-wise, the Ather 450S comes equipped with a 7-inch LCD screen and supports Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, trip information and music controls. Other features include hill-hold assist, a reverse mode and a USB charging port.

2. Yamaha FZ-S Fi
Price: Rs 1,28,600 (ex-showroom)
The Yamaha FZ-S FI is powered by a 149cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 12.4PS at 7,250rpm and 13.3Nm at 5,500rpm and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
The motorcycle also incorporates Yamaha’s Smart Motor Generator (SMG) system. This setup enables quieter engine starts and supports the engine start-stop system, which automatically switches off the engine when idling for an extended period and restarts it with the twist of a throttle. The motorcycle also benefits from hybrid-assist technology, which provides additional assistance during initial acceleration.
Underpinnings consist of a telescopic fork and a monoshock suspension setup. The suspension is tuned for everyday road use while maintaining stability and comfort. Braking duties are handled by a 282mm front disc brake and a 220mm rear disc brake with single-channel ABS available as standard. The motorcycle is built around a perimeter frame that uses the engine as a stressed member. Suspension duties are handled by a 37mm upside-down fork and a gas-charged rear monoshock.
