Take a look at Aprilia's first maxi scooter made specifically for India!

Aprilia has finally unveiled a brand-new two-wheeler for India. The SXR160 is a maxi scooter based on the recently-launched SR160. Aprilia has confirmed that the bookings for the SXR160 will commence from August this year. The brand is planning to launch the maxi scooter by mid-2020 and deliveries will begin by the third quarter of this year. So let's take a closer look at what this scooter is all about.

Looks smart, doesn't it? Would you believe us if we said that it's just a pre-production model as of now? Expect the production version to look similar to this one. In fact, the SXR160 is probably the most stylish scooter that Aprilia has ever brought to our shores.

The Aprilia stall was one of the busiest at this year's expo. And this image might be proof of that. The tall windscreen gives the front end a proper maxi scooter look. Those LED DRLs are not just limited to the pre-production version, they will be equipped on the production model as well.

Also, kudos to Aprilia for giving its scooter a fully digital instrument cluster! Interestingly, production version will even sport Bluetooth connectivity, so we can expect at least turn-by-turn navigation to be on the feature list.

What? Will the SXR160 come with ride modes? We don't think so. The mode button could just be there to change the modes on the digital instrument cluster.

It gets a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. We expect these to be similar to the one as seen on the SR160, but we have to wait for Aprilia to share the official specs for more details.

The SXR160 is likely to feature 12-inch wheels. Braking hardware of the maxi scooter (disc -drum setup) seems to be similar to the SR160. It even gets single-channel ABS.

The maxi-style scooter is likely to share its heart with the SR160 and could produce the same amount of power and torque (11PS at 7600rpm and 11Nm at 6000rpm) as the 160cc fuel-injected motor.

Bookings will commence starting August and the scooter is planned to be launched in mid-2020. Deliveries will start from the third quarter of this year.
