Piaggio, Aprilia’s parent company will be launching the Aprilia Storm 125 in India on May 30. It will be Aprilia’s most affordable scooter in the country and according to our sources, the scooter is priced at Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Unofficial bookings have already commenced across select dealerships

The token amount ranges from Rs 500 to Rs 5000 depending upon the dealership. When launched, it will compete against the TVS NTorq 125 (Rs 58,252), Honda Grazia (Rs 60,723) and the recently-launched Hero Maestro Edge 125 (Rs 58,500). Compared to the Aprilia SR 125 (Rs 72,928), the Storm 125 undercuts it by Rs 7,928. All prices are for the base variants, ex-showroom Delhi.

Based on the Aprilia SR 125, the Storm 125 shares the same engine (124.49cc motor producing 9.6PS & 9.9Nm) and suspension (telescopic forks and monoshock). However, the wheels are 12-inch units as opposed to the 14-inchers on the SR 125. They are wrapped with meaty dual-purpose rubber measuring 120/80 at the front and 130/80 at the rear. The bodywork also carries a different colour scheme to differentiate from its sporty sibling. Also, the pillion grab rail is a large single-piece unit as opposed to the sleek split ones in the SR 125.

The scooter was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, but unlike the disc brake-equipped variant shown at the show, the production model features drum units on both ends with CBS as standard to keep the costs down. We will be at the launch event, so stay tuned to our website and social media channels for the latest updates!
