Suzuki Motorcycles India had unveiled its 2016 Access 125 along with Hayate EP at the 2016 Auto Expo last month. Now, the company is working to launch this highest selling scooter in a month’s time. The new Access 125 was amongst the major attractions at the company’s pavilion during the show. The scooter has been given heavy updates in terms of design and styling to rival its new segment leader, the Honda Activa 125 as well Yamaha’s new Ray-ZR.

Aesthetically, the new Access 125 receives many cosmetic updates including refreshed headlamp design, indicator lamps, side panels and tail lamps. Besides, the overall body of the scooter has now been wrapped with more chrome and a front disc brake is offered as an option. In addition, its unique multi-reflector headlamp brings focused and brighter vision for a safe night riding.

Coming to its mechanicals, the new Access retains the 125cc, air-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve engine of the existing version. The scooter is still linked to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) producing 8.6bhp of power and 10.2Nm of peak torque. In terms of comfort, it has been given telescopic suspension at the front and swingarm at the rear. Other key features of the 2016 Access 125 include maintenance-free battery, tubeless tyres, central locking system.

To enhance its appeal, it has now been equipped with the longest seat in the class, largest under seat storage, a larger floorboard, front storage pocket and an optional DC socket. Its digital multi-functional instrument console boasts of two trip meters. As per company claims, the new Access 125 will return 20 percent better fuel economy.

Considering the new features, the scooter might prove to be a tough competitor to Honda Activa 125, which has ruling this segment ever since its launch. The price of the scooter can play a major role in the success of this upcoming Suzuki scooter as the Honda Activa 125 is considered to be priced at a premium.
