2024 Yamaha R15M Features Explained
From turn-by-turn navigation to music controls and more, here’s what the 2024 R15M has to offer
Yamaha recently updated the R15M with a new colour scheme called ‘Icon Performance’ and along with this, the brand also added some features to the bike. Now the R15M has a lot more to offer, including turn-by-turn navigation. In this article, we will be giving you a detailed breakdown of the features that the Yamaha R15M has to offer.
Revised Console And New Features
The Yamaha R15M features a 5-inch TFT console, with a revised layout, that looks similar to the one on the R1’s console. The console offers smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect app.
With the 2024 update, the console has seen a change in its layout to accommodate turn-by-turn navigation. Other than this, the console also offers music controls with the 2024 update as well. The rider will be able to change the music track and also control the volume with the 3-button switchgear positioned on the left hand side to navigate the console and its features.
The console also shows phone alerts: call, SMS and email. Other readouts on the display include App connectivity status, which allows the rider to check if the console is connected to the Yamaha Y-Connect App, and phone battery level.
Y-Connect App And Ride Stats
The Y-Connect app also offers important riding stats such as fuel consumption tracking, along with tachometer data. The rider will be able to use both to get a better understanding of his riding style and how it is affecting the bike’s mileage.
The app uses this data to give smart maintenance tips, and malfunction alerts. There’s few other interesting bits like the bike’s last parked location, which makes it easier to find your bike in densely packed parking spaces.
Quick Shifter And Traction Control
The R15M is now one of the most feature-packed bikes in the 150cc segment. It has a lot of features to offer which even some higher capacity bikes lack, especially in Yamaha India’s lineup. The addition of a quickshifter for upshifts, which allows riders to upshift without having to engage the clutch, is one such feature. This makes the R15M quite the potent track machine as well.
Lastly, there’s the traction control system. This adds a layer of safety, reducing the chance of wheelspin when riding over slippery surfaces where there is reduced grip. Overall, these features on the R15M make it stand out quite a bit, but at the same time has made the bike a lot more expensive.

The Yamaha R15M is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which produces 18.4PS and 14.2Nm. It goes up against other supersport offerings in the market such as the Karizma XMR, KTM RC 125 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250.
