The 2020 iteration comes in a range of new colour schemes

  • The 2020 Benelli Leoncino 250 costs CNY 19,990, which is around Rs 2.15 lakh.
  • It’s available in five colour schemes including an attention-grabbing variant with pink alloys.
  • Interestingly, this recently launched international-spec version is more powerful than the India-spec model.

Qjian Jiang-owned Benelli has launched the 2020 iteration of the Leoncino 250 in its home market for CNY 19,990, which is equivalent to around Rs 2.15 lakh. The only change for the 2020 version is the inclusion of new colours.

There are a total of five dual-tone colour schemes: white, red, brown, silver, and a polarising silver variant with pink alloy wheels and pink highlights on the bodywork. This colour variant looks a little too gaudy if you ask us. But then again, there must be a demand for such funky colours abroad, which explains why Benelli has introduced such an attention-grabbing scheme.

The motorcycle is powered by a 249.4cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor, which churns out 27.1PS at 10,500rpm. In comparison, the India-spec, BS4-compliant Leoncino 250 is less powerful, with 25.8PS at 9250rpm and 21Nm at 8000rpm on tap.

The recently-launched version weighs 155kg dry whereas the India-spec model tips the scale at 162kg kerb. Underpinnings are common in both variants. The motorcycle uses an inverted front fork, rear monoshock, and petal discs on both ends. The 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped with 110-section front and 150-section rear radial tyres. Other notable features include an all-LED lighting system and a fully digital instrument cluster.

We hope Benelli India updates the Leoncino 250 soon to comply with BS6 emission norms. When it does, the power and/or torque figures are expected to go down a bit and the kerb weight is also likely to increase marginally due to the added emission restricting components. It will go up against the Bajaj Dominar 250 and Jawa Forty Two in its segment.
