Mahindra could soon launch the updated Mojo UT 300 in India

  • The new Mojo UT 300 ABS was spotted outside a dealership.
  • It will feature dual-channel ABS.
  • It was spotted in a black paint scheme, not available with the outgoing model.
  • We expect it to be priced around Rs 1.60 lakh-1.65 lakh.

A test mule of the 2019 Mahindra Mojo UT 300 has been spotted outside a dealership, hinting that Mahindra could launch the updated variant in a couple of months. The test mule was spotted without any camouflage, giving us a fair idea of the updates that the upcoming Mojo UT 300 will get.

In terms of design, the upcoming motorcycle looks similar to the current model. However, Mahindra might introduce new paint options and decals to make it look fresh. The test mule was equipped with conventional halogen headlamps, but we wish Mahindra had offered modern LEDs instead.

Apart from these minor changes, the upcoming Mojo UT 300 could get a major mechanical update in the form of a BS6-compliant engine. The 300cc mill is expected to be the same as the current model, but it is likely to get fuel injection. In the current Mojo UT 300, this engine churns out 23PS of power and 25Nm of torque, paired to a six-speed gearbox.

The Mojo UT 300 was launched in 2018 as an affordable replacement for the original Mojo. Compared to this model, the spied test mule comes with a crucial update in the form of dual-channel ABS with its Bybre braking hardware. The conventional suspension setup and the tyres, however, remain identical to the outgoing model.

There’s no official word on the price yet, but we expect the 2019 Mojo UT 300 to command a premium of around Rs 10,000-15,000 over the current model, which retails for Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). In terms of competition, it will rival the Royal Enfield Classic 350 (Rs 1.53 lakh), Jawa (Rs 1.64 lakh) and the Bajaj Dominar 400 (Rs 1.74 lakh).
