The Chieftain Dark Horse features a batwing fairing with an electronically adjustable windshield, hard saddlebags, and a sleek gunfighter-style solo seat. It carries the classic bagger silhouette but with a modern twist.

Indian Chieftain Dark Horse Engine

At the heart of the Chieftain Dark Horse standard variant is a 1,890cc Thunderstroke 116 V-twin engine. This air-cooled, fuel-injected motor produces 171Nm at just 3,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission and comes with Rear Cylinder Deactivation to reduce heat in stop-and-go traffic.

Meanwhile, the Power Plus variant is powered by a 1,834?cc liquid-cooled V?twin that pumps out around 122PS and 181.4Nm.

Both variants are equipped with Indian’s Ride Command system featuring a 7-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, GPS navigation, live traffic updates, and Bluetooth connectivity. Other highlights include a 100-watt audio system with fairing-mounted speakers, keyless ignition, cruise control, three ride modes (Tour, Standard, Sport), USB charging, and lockable saddlebags with a total capacity of approximately 68 litres. It also gets full LED lighting and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Chieftain Dark Horse standard variant is built on a cast aluminium frame. Suspension duties are handled by a 46mm telescopic fork at the front and a single air-adjustable shock at the rear. Braking is managed by dual 300mm front discs with 4-piston calipers and a single 300mm disc at the rear with a 2-piston caliper, all assisted by ABS. It rides on 19-inch front and 16-inch rear cast wheels, wrapped in Metzeler Cruisetec tyres. The Chieftain Dark Horse has a low seat height of 650mm, and a ground clearance of 130mm. It has a kerb weight of 373kg. The fuel tank capacity is 20.8 litres.

As for the PowerPlus variant, it is built on an aluminium frame with a 46mm inverted fork and a rear adjustable monoshock. Braking comprises dual 320?mm Brembo discs at the front and a single 298?mm disc at the rear. The wheels, tyres, and wheelbase are the same as the standard variant. The seat height and ground clearance are slightly higher at 672mm and 137mm, respectively. It gets a larger 22.7 litre fuel tank, and as a result, the kerb weight has increased and is 382kg.
