Streetfighter Expert Review
Ducati enters the league of naked street bikes in the country by launching Ducati streetfighter series. Known for their elegant design and breath taking performance, Ducati keeps the spirit alive in their streetfighter series as well. The streetfighter S version features a higher capacity 1100cc engine while the smaller one comes with 849cc engine. With the streetfighter series launch, the competition heats-up for other leading bike manufacturers like Harley Davidson, Aprilia and BMW.
Ducati Streetfighter S comes fitted with a 1099cc, four stroke engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. The mill produces a maximum power of 152bhp at 9500rpm with peak torque of 115Nm at 9500rpm. On the other hand, Ducati streetfighter 848 comes with a 849cc, four stroke engine with six-speed gearbox that produces net power of 132hp at 10,000 rpm with a peak torque of 93.5Nm at 9500rpm. The Marelli fuel injection system ensures crisp throttle response and excellent power delivery.
Both bikes are built on a tubular steel trellis frame, which provide rigidity to handle strict riding conditions well. The bikes are equipped with DTC (Ducati Traction Control), which caters improved stability and control in strict conditions by offering eight different riding profiles. The beasts sport drop-down type sharp headlamp design, twin silencers and sharp body dynamics to meet the super street fighter image.
The instrumentation of the bike is fully digital, clear and informative, which includes : speedometer, tachometer, lap times, time, air temp, coolant temp, battery voltage, twin trip meters and warning lights for neutral, turn blinkers, high beam, DTC intervention, oil pressure, fuel reserve and immobiliser system. Another feature that marked its presence was the Quick shifter mechanism. As the name suggests, it enables quick and easy gear shifting without involving the clutch.
