Pulsar AS 150 Expert Review
Overview
The much anticipated Bajaj Pulsar AS 150 finally sees the limelight on the Indian shores. Claimed as the most powerful 150cc air-cooled motorcycle, it witnesses the entry of Bajaj in the adventure bike segment. Like other models, the manufacturer expects a whopping sales records from this model as well.
Powering the Bajaj Pulsar AS 150 is a twin spark, air-cooled engine that displaces 149.5cc and pumps out a peak power of 16.88bhp at 9,500rpm with a maximum torque of 13Nm at 7,000rpm. The four-valve, DTS-i mill is the makes it the mightiest air-cooled bike in the 150cc category.
The bike is held together by a perimeter frame and is mounted with telescopic forks with antifriction bush at the front and Nitrox mono shock absorber at the rear. The company has fitted 80/100-17 front and 110/80-17 rear grippy tubeless tyres that ensure the adventure never goes out of business. To control the stopping action of the machine, it has been equipped with powerful 240mm front disc brake with a 130mm rear drum brake.
Bajaj Pulsar AS 150 resembles exactly with its elder sibling, AS 200 in terms of body design and appearance. The bike receives a muscular front profile that grabs attention at the first instance. It has a sharp and edgy headlamp section that incorporates a low beam projector light along with a high beam usual headlamp. Moreover, twin pilot lamps are integrated that gives the bike an animalistic look in the dark. The bike gets an impressive front with the incorporation of a bigger and clear windshield that protects the rider from incoming breeze at high speeds. The front fairing dresses the bike well giving it a sporty and adventurous visual.
The fuel tank and tail lamp section are inherited from Pulsar NS 200. Maintaining its harmony with the previous Pulsars, this one also gets a sporty step-up seat with a split grab rail. Bajaj Pulsar AS 150 has dimensions of 2,070mm x 804mm x 1,205mm (LxWxH) with a wheelbase of 1,363mm. Furthermore, the bike comes with a minimum ground clearance of 170mm that helps it sustain the title of an all-terrain adventure bike. Its fuel tank capacity is 12 liter.
Design
Bajaj Pulsar AS 150 shares its characteristics with its elder sibling AS 200, both the models sport an Alpha Male Styling that includes a sharp and edgy semi-fairing that integrates transparent windshield. Moreover, the headlamp section now boasts of a projector headlamp and the side indicators are placed on the fairing. The smart front fascia meticulously meets the aggressively styled fuel tank. The fuel tank is designed in such a way that the rider can sit comfortably while placing his legs properly around it. The clip-on handlebars make the riding stance very healthy for the rider. The instrument console of the bike has been carried forward from the Pulsar 200 NS which has been a sensational success for the company since its inception. The front fender is compact and smartly crafted.
Unlike the Pulsar 200 NS, it lacks a tyre hugger that makes it look more robust and ready to deliver its best. The rear profile of the bike is quite sporty with LED tail light, clear lens blinkers, 130mm wide rear tyre, split seat with grab rails and smart rear panels and fender. The overall dimensions of the motorcycle are 2070mm (length) x 804mm (width) x 1205mm (height). The wheelbase, minimum ground clearance and kerb weight of the machine are 170mm, 1363mm and 143kg respectively. It is available in Red, Blue and Black color only.
Features
Bajaj Pulsar AS 150 is an Adventure Sports motorcycle, however, it should have elements like engine cowl, high mounted front fender, etc but the manufacturer has not given a single feature like that. Although, the maker has embedded a projector headlamp to make it pretty promising on the night rides. The bike has a front disc brake that keeps the stopping time of the machine quite low as compared to the convention drum brake. The rear suspension, which is a mono shock absorber with canister, creates mass centralization and enhances stability for the rider.
Engine, Mileage & Performance
Bajaj Pulsar AS 150 is claimed to be the most powerful machine of its segment as it is loaded with an all new 149.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine with DTS-i technology. The manufacturer sticks with the twin spark technology to power this motor while it has been mated to a 5-speed transmission gearbox. Manufacturer has configured the motor to generate a maximum power of 16.8bhp at 9,500rpm with a peak torque of 13Nm at 7,000rpm. As Bajaj is liked by the people for its fuel efficient vehicles, mileage from this machine is expected to be healthy. The mileage is going to have a support of 12 liter large fuel tank.
Handling & Ride Quality
Bajaj Pulsar AS 150 is built on a perimeter frame that keeps it handy and controllable in every condition. Furthermore, the frame is equipped to 80/100-17"46 P front and 110/80-17" 57 P rear tubeless tyres to make it mobile. The rubbers are wrapped on 17-inch alloy wheels that are fixed with 240mm disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear. The braking system of the bike is efficient enough to stop the impressive power of the mill. On the other hand, clip-on handlebars are making a good deal with the rider while offering him a better control over the ride. The tyres are providing enough grip to the rider that he can perform cornering, high-speed chase and stunts with utter ease. The suspension system that includes telescopic front forks and rear mono shock absorber keeps the ride smooth and enjoyable.

- Best PerformanceA bike that delivers excellent performance and comfort, featuring a powerful engine and a sporty design. Equipped with disc brakes and sturdy body parts for added power and safety.
- Great BikeWhile the performance and style are exceptional, there is a slight concern about the maintenance cost. Still, it's a must-buy for enthusiasts.
- Best Bike For my LifeIt's a good bike, a well-maintained Pulsar that runs smoothly, providing minimal fuel consumption and maximum power. Overall, it's the best bike.
- Amazing And Soft Maintenance BikeAmazing and soft maintainable bike with a sports look and descent prizing. I simply loved it and enjoyed it.
- Looks is not enough need to improve performanceI purchased this bike from Delhi. Looks wise this bike is very good so many peoples stare at this bike when they stopped at any traffic signal light, due to its eye-catching looks and people appreciate it. But as an owner of this bike, I want to say,” looks and style are not enough”. it has faced so many problems like electrical / wiring problems, pickup issues, and engine issues also. I am not happy with this bike except for its stylish looks. The good thing is the clock is available in the meter but you need to reset it again and again. when you put the self-start meter and clock timing will reset by itself and the incorrect time saws every time. The air filter is placed exactly below the fuel tank and you need to remove the petrol tank every time to clean it. Due to its fiber body, it’s difficult to open it every time and you will fear every time it opens it can break. It should be easy to open without removing the petrol tank. One of the customers who met me at the Bagga Link was facing the same problem. And he was also unsatisfied and unhappy to purchase this bike. Spare parts are not available in the service center and the market on the first attempt. if you will get it, the shopkeeper will charge extra money. I purchased this bike As a 150, Red Colour in June 2015. Till now, I had repaired its engine so many times and yet it’s not done completely. The wiring problem is the same as before. I have spent so much money to maintain this bike but yet it’s not completed. Its maintenance is very high. Other side mechanics are not trends as per bike maintenance requirements. when you visited the service center to solve the problems the mechanic was also not happy and did not agree to deal with this bike from the heart and every time they suggest to sale this bike. They show their surprised face by saying still you haven’t sold this bike. Finally, This could be a Good bike as its stunning looks, If Bajaj try was to rectify some issues.Read More
