Ather EL01

The Ather EL01 is an electric scooter concept based on the upcoming Ather EL platform. It has a typical family-oriented electric scooter look. The scooter was recently spotted testing and the production version of it will be launched on August 29, 2026. 

Ather EL01 Price

The Ather EL platform is meant to be cost-effective, offering the possibility of multiple models using the same chassis. We expect the first model, the production version of the recently unveiled EL01, to be launched by March 2026 starting at a price of around Rs 99,000 (ex-showroom). That said, there are also chances of it being even more affordable if Ather offers the EV with Battery as a Subscription (BaaS).

Ather EL01 Colours

The Ather EL01 electric scooter concept was seen with a triple-tone colour scheme. The scooter featured a black finish on the handlebar cowl, whereas the apron and bodypanels are in white. The fluorescent-green finish on the floorboard, seat and pillion-backrest really makes the e-scooter look funky. 

Ather EL01 Models

The brand has revealed that there will be multiple models based on the EL platform. It showed the details of three models - a light-weight urban scooter, a commuter scooter with plush suspension, and a top-of-the-line maxi-style scooter. It’s evident that the EL platform is built to give rise to e-scooters catering to different genres and different user needs.

Ather EL01 Design

The EL01 concept comes with a family-oriented scooter look, with a somewhat boxy profile overall. The scooter looks like an evolution of the Ather Rizta, but with a handlebar cowl-mounted headlight. The LED DRLs are on the apron, and the side panels get sharp creases for a cleaner look. There’s a large single-piece seat and a pillion grab handle that also doubles up as a small backrest. All in all, even though it’s a concept, the design still seems pretty close to production, minus the funky colours. 

Ather EL01 Motor, Battery and Performance

Ather mentioned that the main frame, wiring and the powertrain will be common for all the iterations of EVs that come out of the EL platform. To this end, we expect it to have a motor that’s similar to the one in the Ather 450X, which produces 6.4kW. That said, expect this motor to be tuned to offer different levels of performance, depending on the model. 

The brand has revealed that the battery pack and underpinnings will vary. It will have battery packs ranging from 2kWh (in the light weight urban scooter) to 5kWh (in the maxi-scooter). 

Ather EL01 Features

The EL01 concept features a TFT console, which should offer smartphone connectivity. It could come with all the features revealed as part of the Ather Stack 7.0 OTA update including voice control, pothole alerts, tow and crash alerts, among others. Of course, there’ll be full-fledged navigation that works without requiring the smartphone to be connected. Other features such as riding modes, a reverse mode, smart cruise control and hill-hold assist are also likely to be present. The brand is also offering an Advanced Driver Assistance System, which gives warnings about obstacles, as well.

The e-scooter in its production form could also offer a large underseat storage that can fit two half-face helmets thanks to the floorboard-mounted battery. The scooter’s floorboard looks fairly spacious, along with a cubbyhole in the apron for practicality.

Ather EL01 Chassis, Wheels, Brakes And Suspension

The EL platform will feature a tubular steel frame which will be common across the whole EL lineup. That said, there will be changes made to other bits such as the subframe, suspension and wheels to create different genres of scooters. 

In the EL01’s case, we can see that the scooter rolls on what appears to be 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheel setup. It gets a telescopic fork and a single rear shock absorber setup. The scooter also gets a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. Instead of a simple combined braking system, Ather has equipped it with an Advanced Electrical Braking System (AEBS) which slows down the e-scooter via regenerative braking in addition to brakes via the disc and drum.

Ather EL01 Rivals

The production version of the Ather EL01 will go up against other affordable electric scooters in the market such as the recently launched TVS Orbiter, the Bajaj Chetak 3001, Vida VX2 and the Ola S1 X range.
