Hero MotoCorp was formed in 2011, when the joint venture between Hero and Honda ended. This JV was formally called Hero Honda Motors Limited. It was formed in 1984, between Honda Motor Company, Japan and Hero Cycles. Hero Cycles was a bicycle manufacturing company established by Brijmohan Lall Munjal in 1956. The first motorcycle to emerge from the JV was the Hero Honda CD 100, introduced in 1985. The brand’s other iconic bike, the Splendor, was introduced in 1994. It cemented the brand’s legacy of manufacturing bikes that offer great mileage and smooth performance at a cost-effective price range. The brand currently has 18 different bikes in its lineup.
Hero Identity & Tag Line
The brand’s current tagline is “Create | Collaborate | Inspire”.
While the brand is commonly known for making reliable and cost-effective commuter bikes, it has shifted focus to making performance-oriented bikes as well. The first move in this direction was the Hero Honda Karizma, launched in 2003. Its performance was quite exciting for its time, and it had a commanding road presence. All of this helped in shifting the brand’s image to a one that appealed to the enthusiasts as well. Hero MotoCorp further diversified its portfolio of bikes after the Honda JV’s end in 2010 with its sporty naked, sports tourers, and dual-sport bikes. This helped the brand further expand its image as a manufacturer that appeals to the everyday commuter as well as the enthusiasts.
