Techo Electra has launched its Saathi electric moped in the country

  • The Techo Electra Saathi is primarily meant for delivery personnel.
  • It can cover 60-70km on a single charge.
  • The electric moped gets anti-theft alarm, fast charging, and a 3-year battery warranty.

Pune-based electric startup Techo Electra Motors has launched its Saathi electric moped in the country at Rs 57,697 (on-road Pune). Bookings are already open while deliveries will commence from the second week of October. The moped is positioned as a cost-effective mode of transportation, primarily meant for delivery executives.

The Techo Electra Saathi uses a 48V, 26Ah lithium-ion battery, which can ensure a claimed range of around 60-70km per charge. It takes 3-4 hours to charge completely and comes with a three-year battery warranty too. Considering an average electricity consumption of around 1.5 units per charge, Techo Electra claims the moped can cover 60km in just Rs 12.

Speaking about the new offering, Techo Electra’s Managing Director, Prakash Bhootra, said, “Techo Electra scooters are far more cost-competitive than fuel vehicles and also bring in huge savings for the consumer in terms of high range and good battery life. SAATHI will be perfect for people who are in the delivery business as our scooters are noiseless, come with a reverse switch to ease parking, new age looks, etc. On average, a customer can save over Rs 25,000 per year on fuel expenses alone. Apart from savings, it’s time to do our bit and make our country a better and a liveable place to stay with a cleaner environment for our future generations.”

The Techo Electra Saathi moped comes with LED headlamp, central locking system, anti-theft alarm, fast charger, a utility basket on the front and a large luggage rack at the rear, instead of the pillion seat. There are pedals too, in case you run out of battery juice. Underpinnings are pretty decent for its segment, thanks to the inclusion of telescopic front fork, rear shock absorber, a front disc and a rear drum.
