Suzuki Motorcycle India has added the upcoming GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F in its product portfolio on the official website. It means that the company is going to launch both of these superbikes soon in the Indian market. Suzuki is also aiming to sell 400 units of superbikes this year as compared to the 280 units sold last year in India. And these new offerings will definitely help the company to achieve this target.

The Suzuki GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F are almost similar motorcycles, using one platform and power mill. The prior one is a naked sport styled machine with minimised body work, while the latter one is a full faired sport tourer. However, the only difference in these motorcycles is the front fairing of the Suzuki GSX-S1000F, which also adds 5 kg extra to the bike. Dimensions of the motorcycles are also similar except a difference of 100mm in height, due to the large windshield on the faired model.

Being the members of the legendary GSX family, Both the Suzuki GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F gets the same 999cc, inline 4-cylinder engine, which is used in the supersport GSX-R1000. However, the liquid-cooled, DOHC motor has been re-tuned to match the performance requirements of street riding. It makes 144hp of maximum power at 10,000rpm and delivers a peak torque of 106Nm at 9,500rpm, using advanced electronic fuel injection system. The short-stroke mill comes mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox, which works seamlessly.

The Suzuki GSX-S1000 and GSX-S1000F runs on 17” alloys, which comes with 120/70 section front and 190/50 section rear tubeless tyres. The front suspension set-up has inverted telescopic forks, while the rear gets link type monoshock suspension. Its high performance braking system combines twin front and single rear disc brakes, which are assisted by anti-lock braking system (ABS). Enhancing the safety level, the bike also gets switchable Traction Control system, which comes with three different modes for varying riding conditions.

Suzuki GSX-S1000 will be positioned against the offerings like Honda CB1000R, Yamaha FZ1, Kawasaki Z1000 and other quarter litre naked sport superbikes. While the Suzuki GSX-S1000F will compete with Honda VFR1200F, Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and other sport tourers in the respective category.
