Struggles Of An EV Owner: Tales of Challenges And Hilarious Solutions

The challenges are serious but some workarounds owners have come up with are hilarious

Electric scooters and electric bikes have seen an increase in popularity over the years but the challenges that owners have to face haven’t changed, particularly related to charging their EVs at their own homes. This has led to some interesting cases where the owners have come up with their own hilarious but also ingenuous fixes. Here we will be taking a look at such cases.

One of the main issues that EV owners face in their apartments is the lack of charging infrastructure in parking spaces. Owners under such cases have found their own solutions.

In this case, a Ola S1 Pro owner has used a jute bag hung from the window to hold an extension cord so they could charge their e-scooter from the parking lot itself. The charger can be seen hanging mid-air in the bag above the owner’s parking spot connected to a plug point inside the house. Not a bad solution and does get the job done.

But sometimes these kinds of solutions aren’t enough.

In this case, the owner loaded his Ather electric scooter on the elevator and took it inside his 5th floor apartment to charge it inside the kitchen. Seems like in this case the owner was left with no choice but to go to such an extreme as charging from the parking lot using his apartment’s plug point was not possible.

These two cases are just an illustration of the challenges that regular EV owners have to face now-a-days due to the lack of charging infrastructure.

Apartment owners don’t want to invest money into creating provisions for charging EVs as the initial cost related to such installations are usually high and older buildings don’t have the space needed for the retrofittings. Hopefully with the increasing popularity of EVs such facilities will be more readily available.
