Regent No.1 Combines Electric Powertrain With Vintage Looks

Swedish motorcycle packs a 72V motor and has a range of 150km!

  • It has a brake regeneration system.
  • Regent claims a top speed of 135kmph.
  • Due to lack of a fuel tank and other liquids, it weighs just 130kg.

The two-wheeler industry is really warming up to the idea of using electric motors. First, we saw Harley-Davidson launch the production version of its first all-electric motorcycle, the Livewire, at CES 2019. Then Ducati confirmed that it is going to step into this territory as well. Now though, what you are looking at is the Regent No.1. If you are under the impression that this classic British-looking motorcycle is manufactured in Britain, then you’d be wrong. In fact, the No.1 is manufactured in Sweden. The designers at Regent did not go all silly while designing the classic motorcycle. Instead, the architecture is as simple as it can get, just like the motorcycles that we have seen from the 60s and the 70s.

Don't get fooled by its retro facade, because underneath its classic looks lays modern and sophisticated parts. Powering this motorcycle is a 72V motor that produces 15PS-30PS. The company claims the No.1 has a range of 150km and will hit a top speed of 135kmph. The motorcycle sits on a steel frame and weighs just 130kg (dry). It is equipped with telescopic forks at the front and dual rear shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power comes from disc brakes at either end and ABS is fitted as standard.

The retro cafe racer boasts a touchscreen display with GPS navigation, LED lights at the front and rear, an anti-theft alarm, brake regeneration and 19-inch spoke alloy wheels. Apart from its modern internals, the Regent No.1 has an ultra-modern and eye-watering price tag of €9,500 (around Rs 9.57 lakh)!
