Mahindra is planning to launch the Peugeot e-Ludix electric scooter in India soon. Speaking to the Economic Times, Pawan Goenka, the Managing Director of Mahindra, said that the company is working towards getting the e-Ludix’s pricing right for India before it goes on sale. Some of you may already know that Mahindra fully owns Peugeot Motorcycles and manufactures the e-Ludix at its Pithampur facility and exports them to France

The e-Ludix is a tiny electric scooterette that weighs just 85kg. It gets a 3.2kW electric motor that offers 49Nm of torque. Peugeot claims the e-Ludix can reach its 45kmph top speed in 10 seconds. It even gets three riding modes. It has a 2kWh removable lithium-ion battery pack which offers a range of upto 50km. Charging time is rated at 3.5 hours.

Interestingly, the e-Ludix gets a 16-inch front wheel for better stability. The rear wheel is a 12-inch unit. The suspension setup includes a telescopic fork and dual shock absorbers. Braking is via a 240mm front and a 220mm rear disc brake. The scooter also has regenerative braking.

We expect the e-Ludix to be launched in India later this year. Expect the electric scooterette to be priced in the region of Rs 65,000 to Rs 75,000. It remains to be seen if the e-Ludix will be sold under the Peugeot Motorcycles brand or Mahindra Two-wheelers here.  With the e-Ludix, Mahindra will join the electric bandwagon after other major bikemakers like Bajaj and TVS that offer the Chetak Electric and iQube respectively.
