Okinawa Performance Electric Scooter Incoming

The brand will also launch an electric scooter for commercial purposes

• Apart from the two scooters, Okinawa will also be launching the Oki100 Electric bike and the Cruiser electric maxi-scooter.
• All the four models will be reportedly launched in March 2020.
• The expected price for the performance scooter is around Rs 1.2 lakh. 

Okinawa plans to launch two more electric scooters alongside the Oki100 and the Okinawa cruiser. One of them is a performance electric scooter and the other electric scooter that will cater to the B2B market. 

The performance electric scooter is expected to be loaded with features like smartphone connectivity, over the air updates, built-in navigation and a few more. Even though the focus is on performance, the scooter is reported to have a high range too. The price for the performance e-scooter will likely be on par with the Ather 450 Plus electric scooter, which retails at Rs 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Okinawa’s B2B serving electric scooter will likely be adopted by food delivery, courier and other local transport services. Thus, the model will not only reportedly have better load-carrying capacity but also extended range, low-acquisition and running cost. The scooter will likely rival the Hero Electric Nyx HX both in terms of price and performance. 

Currently, Okinawa has 350 dealerships all in the country and plans to open 150 more before the of FY 2020. 

We caught up with Okinawa’s Managing Director, Jeetender Sharma and got some insight on the Oki100 electric bike and the Okinawa Cruiser electric scooter. 

The Oki100 is the first electric bike for the brand. Its performance will be equivalent to that of a 125cc petrol-powered bike. To read more about it, click here.
