Oben Electric is offering a discount of up to Rs 39,999 on the Oben Rorr electric bike. This brings the effective price down to Rs 1,10,000 from the original price of Rs 1,49,999, ex-showroom, including the EMPS 2024 (Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024).
This is a special inaugural offer by Oben Electric, as it has recently opened a new showroom in Pitampura, New Delhi. The discount offer is only valid for the first 100 customers in Delhi. Based in Bengaluru, Oben Electric has also opened new dealerships in Pune, Kochi and Trivandrum last month. The EV startup also plans to expand its network in the national capital this year by opening 12 new showrooms and service centres across Delhi NCR.
Previously, the EV maker raised Rs 40 crore to boost its production to 100,000 units per year at its Bengaluru plant. Despite receiving 21,000 pre-orders as of June 2023, only 129 units have been registered so far, according to Vahan portal that keeps a record of vehicle registrations across the country. April 2024 saw only 30 registrations, and May had just 19. However, there are a few states like Telangana that do not come under the Vahan portal. With the expanded dealership network across the country, Oben aims to meet demand better.
The Oben Rorr electric bike is powered by a frame-mounted 8kW electric motor. Oben Electric claims the bike to accelerate from 0 to 40kmph in just 3 seconds with a claimed top speed of 100kmph. The electric bike has a 4.4kWh battery pack and gets a certified IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of 187km. It charges from 0 to 80 percent within 2 hours with an optional fast charger.
The Oben Rorr competes against other electric bikes like the Tork Kratos and Revolt RV 400.
