Vespa has unveiled the Racing Sixties scooter at the 2020 Auto Expo. Along with the scooter, the Italian scooter maker had its entire 2020 lineup on display. The new lineup and the Racing Sixties will go on sale in the second quarter of 2020.

The Vespa Racing Sixties gets sporty overtones in the form of racing stripes that run along the centre of the scooter and side panels. It gets a retro white paintjob with red and gold stripes. Even the wheels are painted in a vintage gold hue. Components such as the mirrors, headlamp and instrument console surround, side trim and floorboard rubber all get a black finish. It gets an LED headlamp, semi-digital instrument console and a USB charging port.

Other than the paint bit, the scooter remains mechanically unchanged. It uses the same 150cc powertrain as the Vespa SXL 150. This fuel-injected BS6-compliant motor makes 10.46PS and 10.60Nm of peak torque. It gets a monocoque steel frame with a trailing link suspension and monoshock. Braking is via a front disc and rear drum with a single-channel ABS as standard.

The scooter is expected to command a premium of Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 over the BS4 Vespa SLX 160 that costs Rs 1,25,107 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Vespa SXL 150 is a very comfortable scooter and loved the experience. Its pickup speed is awesome, the handle stabilization and control is damn good.
