The new bike will be produced in limited numbers and delivered immediately

Jawa Motorcycles is all set to introduce a special Jawa Anniversary edition as a homage to its first-ever motorcycle, the 500 OHV, introduced 90 years ago. The new motorcycle is based on the Jawa and features a unique two-tone cream and red paint scheme, along with a special ‘90th Anniversary’ sticker on the fuel tank. It will be produced in a limited run of just 90 motorcycles and will be ready for immediate delivery. This last bit is rather surprising, considering the manufacturer’s track record with waiting periods.

However, bookings for the motorcycle are open until October 22, so we expect the bikes to be delivered on Jawa’s official one-year anniversary on November 15. Even though the delivery might not be as ‘immediate’ as Jawa is claiming, it is still a rather short wait compared to what Jawa buyers have experienced so far.

The Anniversary edition is mechanically identical to the Jawa, meaning a 293cc single-cylinder engine producing 27PS and 28Nm. The only unknown at the moment is whether the bike will feature single-channel or dual-channel ABS.

The 500 OHV was introduced in 1929 and had a top speed of 100kmph, courtesy its 499cc single-cylinder motor. It was offered with a dual-tone colour scheme — very similar to the Anniversary edition. We have also learned that Jawa is planning to bring us three new models over the next 18 months, with new engine configurations.

Those looking to buy the Anniversary edition must already have an existing Jawa booking or make one by October 22. In terms of price, the Anniversary edition will cost the same as the Jawa that it is based on. That means a price of Rs 1.64 lakh if it has a rear drum brake, or Rs 1.73 lakh (ex-showroom) for the dual-channel ABS variant. More details are expected from the manufacturer over the next few days.
