The four-stroke motorcycle is Euro-IV compliant as well

Jawa, a brand that once had a significant presence in India and now makes retro motorcycles for the Russian and Central American markets, has given a modern touch to its popular 350 by endowing it with a four-stroke engine. Christened the Jawa 350 OHC, the bike uses a Honda XR400-derived 397.2cc single-cylinder fuel-injected overhead camshaft (OHC) engine which belts out a healthy 27.7PS of power at 6500rpm and 30.6Nm of peak torque at 5000rpm. With classic bodywork and peashooter-style dual exhausts, the design of this bike is reminiscent of Triumph’s Bonneville range of motorcycles. The twin-pod instrument cluster, circular headlamp and long bench seat exude retro charm. Overall, the Jawa 350 OHC is a tasteful blend of traditional design and modern mechanicals.
The engine and the frame have been sourced from China. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a 5-speed transmission. The front telescopic forks get gaiters and offers 150mm of travel while the rear dual-shocks offer 80mm of travel. The brand has not only modernised the bike with the engine, but has also gone further and offered a 280mm disc brake at the front with single-channel ABS. However, the rear uses a 160mm drum unit. The 19-inch front wheel is shod with 100-section rubber while the 18-inch rear wheel uses fatter 130-section tyre. With a long wheelbase of 1420mm and a low seat height of 760mm, the bike seems to be a promising tourer. The fuel tank capacity stands at 12.5 litres and the bike tips the scales at 160kg (dry).
The Jawa 350 OHC retails in Czech Republic for approximately Rs 2.6 lakh. It remains a mystery whether Mahindra will make Jawa bikes for the Indian market but if it does, the 350 OHC has the potential to compete with well-established cruisers like the Bajaj Dominar 400, Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 and Bullet 350 among others.
